Spore is really an amazing old game. You build your own custom species and you go from a single cell to a space empire. And future stages are effected by how you played in previous stages. It holds up to modern day, there are some aspects that make the game clunky but nothing major. Spore is like 5 small games in 1 complete game. The Cell Stage: A simple collection game to grow to the creature stage Creature Stage: Either fight all the other creatures or friend them (or a mix) I liked this stage Trible stage: Simple RTS game where you have to befriend or kill the other tribes City stage: Another simple RST game where you have to take over all the other cities Space Stage: A management game where you have to collect spice, make friends or war with surrounding nations and expand your empire. The end goal is to get to the center of the universe I think. I like the space stage but it gets boring after a bit. Spore is a great collection of creativity and a classic game.
Just like how Spelunky 2 is the perfect continuation of Spelunky, Steamworld Dig 2 is the perfect continuation of Steamworld Dig. You do not have to play the first game to enjoy this one but it continues from the first game where Dot tries to find her Rusty from the first game. The gameplay is just like the first but there are new upgrades and mechanics.
The world is fun and rather open, but after a while the quest all seem very similar and non-engaging and the world seems empty. Which is a problem with some open world games. The machines are fun and interesting at first but after a while they aren't as exciting and normally there isn't a reason to fight them. Story is really good, characters are acceptable and over all the game is worth playing.
This is a great spaceship shooter game, the world feels well built and mysterious and the game play is great once you figure it out.
The game is a great hot seat game to play with friends, but buyer beware because the game does not always work for every OS. But if you get it working then it is a fun game. I think there is a mod to make it compatible with new versions of windows and add online support but I haven't used them ever.
Terraria is an amazing game of exploration, building, and combat. Progression in the game feels great and makes you feel like you are getting stronger while the world gets harder. The art style is icon. This game is best played with a small server with a few friends. And if you are looking for a challenge you can do harder game modes that increase the strength of your enemies and bosses.
