I have played a slew of some great, and some not so great NWN1 fan-based modules over the years since it was released almost 23 years ago. It is great too see another commercial module DLC released. I have just initially started so, a more complete review will have to come later, but so far I have been impressed. I look back at the advances made since the beginning, notably The Enhanced version from BeamDog, but as well as the continual fan based updates that are still on-going, and it is truly remarkable. If your a fan of NWN1 then you should consider supporting NWN: Doom of Icewind Dale for the potential of further modules DLCs being released. And if there are issues (don't nickpick, just to nickpick), and we all know there is not one game out there they will not have some issues (hopefully no game breaking ones), I'm sure the delveloper as well as the rest of the community would appreciate the feedback.
I can not speak for everyones experience, but mine has been very favorable. Last years character model graphic upgrade, as well as the previous game upgrades were something I've waited for years. I know some were wishing for huge major graphics overhaul, but without bascically making a total new game which would break all the fan based creations over the years, this was (for me too) a pipe dream. What NWN is about a module creation system, just like the original table top system... as in story telling and immersion for the player. There is a plethora of content available for hundreds of hours of game play (or make your own in the included toolset and share it), this does not even include all the persistant game worlds people have created and run as virtual DMs. Finally, a good springboard for NWN fan base creations is: Neverwintervault.org and BEAMDOG's site: https://forums.beamdog.com/categories/neverwinter-nights. Happy Adventuring
Just finished playing, and really enjoyed the experience. The humanity of a machine after humanity is gone and inhumanity of machines after humanity is gone is a tragic. The puzzles were tough enough, but not crazy hard; and if needed you can find help on line. Enjoy
