A very generous expansion. Five maps campaign that will offer quite some hours of gameplay, with some intersting mechanics, like carrying on some of the animal from previous maps. There's a couple of objectives that requires you to rehouse animals during a level than can be a bit tedious, and you often have to micromanage your crew more than usual to cater for some of the divas. But otherwise the campaign was fun and challenging without being too difficult or turning into a puzzle. New content includes new types of tanks and requirements, allowing for aquariums more varied than ever. The new "fish" are for a big part, animals. We might steer a bit away from the aquarium theme, but I loved it, lots of crowd pleaser like otters and polar bears, and various kinds of penguins. There's new gift shops, accessories, decorations and paints. Crazy amoun of good bang for your bucks. I just wish the game will include some way to alleviate the employees workload and make managing them a bit more streamlined, maybe some upgraded auto feeders, or better way to train the crew. Overall it's an amazing expansion, highly recommended !
Freshwater Frenzy is an add-on as you don't see them much anymore. It adds so many cool features, without bloating or going against what made the core game so good. All that for half the price of the main game. There's a whole new campaign centered around those new features, to help you discover them and gives you new challenges. New aquariums, accessories to boost your crew, new decorations and paint. The new features build upon the core gameplay, as with the new freshwater fish comes a couple of new mechanism : breeding and acidity. Breeding adds some optional requirements so your fish will reproduce, and for some, get some new hybrids. It's a fun challenge, and can also gives you some addiotionnal revenue if you manage to get good breeding tanks. Acidity works similar to temperature, as you need to produce enough for fish that requires it, some decoration add little bit of acidity, so you need to be careful not to add too much in a neutral tank. Some species, like shrimps, don't care about it, so there's a lot of combination opening up. If you enjoyed the main game, this add-on is a must have.
