Genesis Alpha One Deluxe Edition

Good game, but odd controls.

Maybe it's just me, but I have to swap between the keyboard and controller to go through the main menus. It also affects some in game menues like chaing weapons for crew members. Once I got used to that the game is OK, good tutorial, in ship AI tells you how things work. The constant ship infestations is annoying. But at least you can get biomass and DNA out of it.

Starship Troopers: Terran Command

Thumbs up.

Movie based not book based. Still fun. Deleting saves takes forever. Attack move should have been as standard, no matter the level, if attacked while just moving, your guys will die. Your units are good if you can position them right. If you just send a big group at the enemy you will die. Makes me want to become a citizen.

Them and Us Bundle

Not bad

Overall, it can be a bit janky. You are not a fighter so your are always on the back foot. You can't dodge and you run slow. But if you can get over that, you can use what you have in order to survice. There isn't much in the way of hints , so you will need to figure it out the hardway or use a wlakthrough, which cna be annoying. But for what it is, I am enjoying this game, the story is interesting and the atmosphere is engaging, Do not play alone at night if you scare easily.

Bio Menace

Old, Simple, Flawless.

If you can look past it's age you can appreciate a classic. No bugs, no glitches. Simple movements and simple missions. Get to the end and you win. Gameplay is smooth and you can even go into rooms and other aready, rare for an oldschool side scroller. A good look at yesteryear.

Battlezone: Combat Commander

Great sequel.

If you played number one, you already know how this goes. But this time it can be played as an RTS if you build a radar. Sniping is harder as you need to hit the window not just aim fo the red dot. But everything is faster, smoother and better than it's predecessor. Group teams can now be mixed, and even without a vehicle you are still a threat as your infantry ammo slowly reloads. However, the story doesn't let you choose teams right at the start, you only get that option much later. But it does have a nice long campain with a lot of missions.

Battle Realms + Winter of the Wolf

Fun, Fast - 1 caviat.

Played this back in the day. Finsihed both the main game and Winter of the wolf. The enemy is smart, just using the strongest unit in droves won't work. The graphics are a little blocky but it is old. Also there aren't many games with this kind of story. The mix of some RPG elements also makes the game more involved when it comes to the story. Each team has multiple heroes who get a bit of a back story to draw you in. Only real issue is that (as of this review) it won't run if you have multiple screens hooked up. Otherwise, a good fun game with a bit of replayability thanks to the expansion.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

Classic, Patched.

Originally when this game 1st came out it had afew bugs that could stop you from beating the game. But thanks to dedicated fans that's all taken care of. Almost all of the bugs are gone, cut content has been readded. Even some ease of use options have been added like being able to buy skill books multiple times. The atmosphere is involving even with it's age. The voice actiing is top notch. The only places where you might find issues are the combat. It could be more fluent, but again for it's age it can be overlooked. If you're into White Wolf or the supernatural, this game will world filled with lore and keep you up at night. A must play if you are looking at getting VTMB 2.

Act of War: Gold Edition

RTS with a bit of tactics.

Similar to your standard RTS but with some tactics thrown in. A low level grunt rush doesn't tend to work with this game. Things like using buildings for cover and having the right units to combat vehicles need to be considered. Makes it a lot more fun when the capmain AI doesn't rush you either so you can plan your attacks. The graphics have held up well for it's age and the acting even has people from some B grade movies you might have seen.

Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising

Old but good

Decent graphics for it's day. Not easy, get good or lose the mission. Old school glitches to.

BattleZone 98 Redux

Classic, including classic issues.

1st, a good game. The game is old. You will have old stile 3D graphics, but somehow it still manages to look pretty good. Yes it has it's limits, like only so many units can be controlled as you only have 10 or so teams at a time. Due to it's age there is no aim assist, so you actually have to stay on target on the run, and you are awlays on the run. But that just means you have to get good. Some of the vehicles run like clunkers, but if you stuck to scout units or light tanks they actually hover very smoothly. The enemy isn't too bright, but they are good shots. So it's not an easy game. Especially if you play as the reds.
