Them and Us - Asian Costume Pack
Description
Them and Us Bundle includes:
  • Them and Us - base game
  • Them and Us - Service Costume Pack
  • Them and Us - Retro Costume
  • Them and Us - First Person View

Them and Us is a classic, survival horror game with a focus on atmosphere and player immersion.
Discover the truth of Alicia’s past as she descends further into her strange, unending nightmare.

The Story:

The year is 1978. A lone bus, a terrible crash, out upon the old and winding dirt roads which skirt a vast American wilderness. A survivor. A young woman, her mind scarred by a life of tragedy, her name is Alicia. She is alone. She is injured. Around her, quietly, slowly, a surreal and deadly nightmare unfolds.

Fighting for her life, Alicia finds herself in the midst of events she does not understand- a "change" taking grip on the world around her. Its nature, its cause? unknown.

As night descends, she pushes further into the unknown - Will she survive? Will you?

Key Features:

General
- Fixed camera with tank and alternate control schemes.
- Third-person view with over-the-shoulder aim

- Selected first-person POV for flashbacks, cutscenes, memories, etc.
- Extra game content.

Fixed Camera: This mode is designed for people that want a true classic survival horror experience. For those who like things hard and challenging.

Over The Shoulder: Although we keep some classic elements in this mode, OTS is designed for people who want a more modern gaming experience, with a slightly easier (but still challenging in its own way) experience.

Notice:
The game pays homage to some of the classic survival horror games we love, expect to see some "rooms" or "easter eggs" that may remind you of these games.

Regardless of how you play, this game will not hold your hand. You will have to think for yourself about what needs to be done and how to progress the story.
Use your own wits and intuition to make it out alive.

Graphics
- Post-process effects (bloom filters, god rays, etc.) added for increased immersion.
- Crisp graphics with a 60 FPS default. Unlock FPS is available.
- Optional reversion to first-gen console graphics. The retro mode also triggers fixed camera play for a greater challenge.

Gameplay
- Realistic damage and dismemberment systems with accompanying gore.
- In-world puzzles featuring ciphers and keys.
- Resource management for true survival horror.

Extra Content:
Finish the game and unlock new costumes or weapons.
There are different endings. Decide Alicia's fate yourself.

A love letter to survival horror.

This is a game clearly made by fans of the survival horror genre with allot of inspirations from Resident Evil. That is: exploring a level, solving puzzles, conserving ammunition's, inventory management etc. (no locked camera angle though) If you want some of that classic Resi style goodness, get the game! You wont be disappointed. One warning though, the game clearly had a budget so it wont have all the bells and whistles that AAA games have. Check some gameplay videos to have a clear idea of how it looks.

Rather a collection of B-sides and demos

First impressions were positive; set in a mansion with zombies, puzzle item hunts, locked door & strange keys, limited saves, weapon & ammo conservation. A mere few hours in though it becomes abundantly clear that Them and Us loses focus & momentum rapidly and manages to feel just all over the place in terms of thematics and gameplay. As one exits the mansion suddenly the game delves into the world of magic potions, portals leading to other dimensions, and more of that unscary fantasy nonsense... What makes classic survival horror great is the ability to deliver on consistency. Them and Us incorporates elements from yesteryear's inspirations, but fails to capitalize on them. Instead of being a Greatest Hits type of thing, it's more of a collection of sub-par B-Sides and demos, if you catch my drift. Even if I can tell a lot of effort was put into it, Them and Us is just a mess. For a modern survival horror title that remains focused until the very end, get Tormented Souls here on GOG instead.

Very Good Game, too Many Locked Doors

The Good. If you want an excellent Halloween game, this game is perfect. The mood, the atmosphere, the zombies; this is like your favorite haunted house story has come to life but this haunted house you get to explore. It's wonderful. The rooms are amazing and the garden is impressive as well. I took so many screenshots. I played in first person and without seeing my character and, this way, the older Unreal 4 somehow delivers, especially indoors. If you like creepy/spooky scary that's not so grim as Outlast and doesn't require run/hide mechanics this game is for you. The Bad. There are way too many locked doors in this game. Them and Us is at its best when you're exploring its impressive mansion and at its worst when you're stuck trying to find a way to unlock the way to proceed. The doors would be less a problem if they were more like Resident Evil puzzles but too many have very obscure or hard to find solutions. Secondly, there are many areas with numerous exits and entrances which is not a problem in itself but it makes the frequent backtracking a confusing nightmare. Lastly, the character models and animations are poor. There is also a surreal zone about one third through that is awful. It's so jarring and out of place that it has caused some players to quit. I almost did. Fortunately I pressed through it.

Excellent First Half

The first half of the game is excellent. Lots of atmosphere, interesting puzzles, and an intriguing back story. Also some nice touches, like the options you get when you discover the TV. Some of the puzzles were difficult, but not so much that I couldn't eventually figure them out on my own. Remember, you can PUSH objects, too! Lots of options to change the camera views and difficulty levels (unlimited saves or only a set amount of saves, for example), I stopped playing when I reached the half way point, though. That is when you exit the mansion and start exploring the grounds, and I lost interest in the game then. The tight, scary atmosphere was gone, and the zombies were very hard to kill, so it just wasn't fun then. But I liked the first half enough that I rate it 4 stars, because for the price I thought I had received a good amount of gameplay, and the puzzles were fun. The extra costumes are nice, but the main character really doesn't have the body type for them. I think if there is a sequel, changing the model of the main character to more of a 'Lara Croft' body type would fit the costumes better.

Low key cult classic

Is it low budget? Yes. But if you like survival horror (especially 90s-style) then get this. It has most of what you need from a Resi-style action/puzzle game. You can play either fixed camera or over-the-shoulder and the length of the game feels right.
