WARNO

Crashing. Cheating/Stupid AI.

Been trying to play this for a couple days now. But I can't. When the game isn't crashing on startup, it's crashing during a game. Did all the training missions and got to play some rounds in Skirmish. The AI cheats constantly. If I load up heavy on infantry at the start, they load up heavy on anti-inf helicopters and napalm. If I load up on tanks, they load up on anti-tank. If I load up on helicopters, they load up on AA. It's pathetic. I have played RTS games since C&C1 and strive for no/min losses in everything I do. Just off what little I have seen, it's nearly impossible to do that in this game. Units refuse to backup or follow any commands besides switching targets once engaged. This makes it easy for the AI to snipe your helicopters and tanks. Helicopters come with no smoke or flares. Helicopters, especially Apaches, refuse to use rockets and missles unless they are WAY TOO CLOSE. Tanks have smoke but only have 1 salvo, which is flat out stupid. And anti-tank infanty takes WAY TOO LONG to get a rocket off. And that's just what I've seen in 2 days. I'm gonna go watch some youtube videos about it and see what it takes to anti-cheat this AI in this game, or if there are any mods for it. It's really sad that you have to cheat players via giving the AI cheat to have a fighting chance, always the poor mans way of making "good" AI. Just like Warhammer and Stellaris, if you have give your AI cheats, you didn't make a good AI. I have no desire to play multiplayer in this game and sad that there is basically no campaign, which the trailers and stuff imply there is some form of story going on, but there isn't. It's really just a multiplayer template system like so many other games these days. On steam you would have to make a login and everything to even run this game and they collect data off your computer. Which is already making me want to refund it. I'm already a few more crashes and getting sniped by invisable AA or TOW missles from refunding.

STAR WARS™ Galactic Battlegrounds Saga

Never played this till 2019...

... and I wish I knew this even existed long ago! Seriously have never come across this game anywhere till a month ago and it makes me so sad that I didnt know about this back when the graphics were top of the line. Reguardless, playing the vanilla version of this game was great all on its own, but after downloading the Extended Fronts mod, just made it just right. Only reason I am giving this a 4 star, is the fact they never put in a Attack Move option or a group assign & select option. Other than that, think this game is perfect for any Star Wars fan and RTS vet.

Earth 2160

Not Really That Great... At All

Regret buying this game. I played this game almost a decade ago, barely touched it, but decided to get it when I found it again on this site. Wow... it's bad. I instantly remembered why I gave up on this game. The voice acting on the heros and some units alone make me want to punch their actors in the face. Not to mention the cut senses that make it feel like a high school kid made them. There is 0 point to making infantry, due to the fact they get targeted and killed faster than your can snap your finger. It can be fun to mess around on skirmish a bit but honestly I just have no desire to play this game. It doesnt inspire any rewarding moments or any motivation to push forward with the story. This will once again fade into memory as it sits in my libary till I decide to pick it up and finish it out of boredom again... "Youre not my type" - Some blue hair lady

Metro: Last Light Redux

Don't even bother.

What's the point of playing these games when you'll be forced to download the newest Metro game off the Epic Games laucnher? Thanks to their shady exclusive deal between the devs their publisher. These games are fine all on their own but I, and many others dont want to go down this road of playing these games but being forced to play on a platform we neither want to support nor even have on our computers. Do yourself a favor and don't pick up these games if youre not a fan of Epic Games and their pathetic version of Steam they made off their Fortnight money. Rating is based off the fact that if I want to continue the story of these games I am forced to do something I dont want to do. Sooner or later devs will learn not to insult or bottle neck their customers, till then, this is my protest.

Empire Earth Gold Edition

Get Ready To Waste Hours Of Your Life

Empire Earth is one of the best classic RTS games that continues to bring back players to this day. This game is better than 2&3 of the series, which should tell you something. The single player stories are fun and well made for a game of its time. But what really shines about this game is the fact it doesnt try to be anything else but what it is, unlike 2&3. You start from cavemen and end in space. The game doesnt just focus on the past, it also makes its own future, giving Russia and Asia a whole new story to play through the Modern, Digital, Nano and Space ages. This also offers the never ending "Skirmish" gameplay, allowing you to start a random map to play against others or AI. Also, this has a map editor that allows you to make your own story, maps, missions, quests, cutscenses and more. This game is a timeless classic and any RTS junkies libary is incomplete without it. For $6, youre missing out not picking it up!

Dark Reign 2

Loved it then, love it now

Amazing story, beautiful soundtrack and fun gameplay. Though I am already a bit biased having played this gem way back when it was only a year old at the time, its still a great game to this day. Got a bone to pick with some of the reviews though. Lots of people in the reviews talk about the controls, gameplay and movement issues but really, the unit movements and paths are the real problems that should be cause for concern. At $6, the soundtrack alone pays for it. Reguardless, I know these are the same people that play modern RTS games that allow you to "attack move" a bunch of units in one directions and forget about them, if you do this in this game, you will lose all those units. Surprise, this game takes a little strategy, correct unit placement and managment. Having 3 or 4 groups of units with heavy hitters in front and healers at the ready will win the battles, but its actual strategy moves like pincer attacks, flanking, finding weak spots in defenses, using air units well, using spies well, and focusing on the acutal objective that wins the war. As mentioned the soundtrack alone is worth the money. Even if you never played this game, go have a listen yourself on youtube.

World in Conflict: Complete Edition

Well Made Classic

Picked this up a few years ago and picked it up to play it again and again since then. This game is not only a great RTS game but just reading into how much effort and love went into the design was amazing. Great story that keeps you intrested the throughout the single player. Ive heard great things about the multiplayer but cant give a opinion on it myself. Good in-game visuals for 2019, cutscenses are a little dated now but its like watching a old war movie, it adds to the flare. Overall great game and great choice for anyone that likes RTS games with a realistic modern touch.

Satellite Reign

Looks good... Plays terrible

I got this game some time ago, tried playing it 4 times, and I just can't get into it. Can't get too far past after collecting all of your team for the first time. I love, love, love the way it looks and the background of this setting, but I am not impressed by the simple fact that it seems to be lagging the entire time on my beast of a computer, and a few simple facts of the gameplay that can't be ignored. Go ahead and read other reviews for the lame mechanics this game has, just know that if I could get a refund, I would.
