Freedom Fighters

Can't load First level past the intro.

So I played through the intro just fine. When I get to the "base" it says to go to the map and press E in order to go to a location. And that's as far as I get. I think it's a resolution problem. I checked the games message board. There is a solution. But it looks to be way more crap than I am willing to deal with. Shame too. This looked like it would have been fun. Big fat NOPE from me.

So I got it. And thus far I'm not at all disappointed. I usually don't go for boss rush type games, but the Hyper Light Drifter style pixel graphics and exploring I'm a complete sucker for. Plus, the world isn't empty with the exception of the bosses. You do meet interesting characters who'll add to story. A lot of care has seemed to go into all of it. But it has a bit of a dark side to it too. I don't want to spoil it for anyone though. I'm porbably about a third of the way through. The bullet hell bosses give a good challenge, but nothing so far that feels impossible or too much. So if you like boss rush, exploring/adventure, good narrative, HLD type graphics... Then you should pick this up! I got it on sale, but I would be down to buy it at full price.

This game is such a blast!

I have 162 hours racked up on this game on my steam account. When I first got this game on Steam, I didn't really know what to expect. What I ended up with, is easily in my top 15 favorites of all time. Now, this may or may not be for you. And I'm going to try to shed a little light on that. First off, it's a fast paced shooter. Procedural generated levels (I mean that in a very minimalist way. The stages are just set up a little different each time.) The movement is what makes most folks either love it or not. It takes a little practice. At least, if you want to make the psychedelic aspect of this game come through. What I mean is, the game doesn't HAVE to be super fast paced. You are not on a timer that is going to game over you. But if you can kill enough baddies fast enough and string it along, then you start making the BIG points. When you make the BIG points, all of the colors start switching through different color scheams real fast and it's quite the effect. Not recommended to those with epilepsy. There are also heads, weapons and specials to unlock. Some are through secret areas. Some are through speedrunning and that sort of thing. This game won an award the year it was released for the audio. And I can easily see why. All of the sound fx are ultra crisp and sharp. If you are at all into IDM music, you'll see what I mean. The audio is ultra satisfying. The runs aren't that long, but there are some pretty brutal parts. Some of the bosses are pretty difficult at first. When you no longer have enough points to resurect, then it's right back to the beginning. If you like action rougeLITES, then for 99 measley cents, you really should try this out. Last thing I wanna mention, there isn't just a ton of story. It's real abstract, but the story you do find, it's very touching. To me it seems to reflect the love that went into this game. I honestly cannot recommend it enough. ESPECIALLY FOR 99 FRIGGIN CENTS!!!
