It's very obviously a nerdy game made by nerds who like to nerd around. I really appreciate that the game has likeable, interesting characters and avoids any lazy "in-jokes" about MMO gameplay where devs "joke" about anoying, lazy stuff just to do it themselves. I'm saying there's no character going "oh, an anoying puzzle :(" and then the game forces an anoying puzzle onto you. It's just a very likeable game, even if it has no chill.
Once I arrive at the embark site of my new colony, I completly lack any "what should i do now"-ideas. It's also doing the thing of Dwarf Fortress where stones and ores are using geological correct terms, but without ingame wikis or DF's very good outgame wiki, you're just wondering what that rock over there could mean to you and your settlers.
I hope you like explosions, because this game has lots of it. Combat is very satisfying, the resource collection lies somewhere near early-game-factorio and the base building is of that type where you _always_ have something to build or improve in your base. Doesn't feel like it has much replay value, but I consider after spending 25+ hours in this game..
