Wasteland 3: Colorado Collection

Decent fun; not great.

I'm a backer and I love the serious. I do recommend this game; however, this is not as good as Wasteland 2. There are a few improvements from 2 like the graphics, sound, and so on; however, a lot of new problems in 3. WL 2 modding weapons was important; 3, it's ok, and you'll never get your mods back that matter. That's ok as you'll be buried in a mountain of loot since weight doesn't matter. The devs obviously thought they needed to fix carry weight. Ok fine. But why bother to give me any other option than loot all? There's no penalty; grab it all, break down what you can, sell the rest. With that mentality, they shouldn't even offer a loot option; just dump it straight to inventory because it doesn't matter, and it's a waste of time. Regarding inventory... no ability to sort... the built-in auto sort mechanism is terrible, The game just felt lackluster. Finished on Supreme Jerk and only 2 fights in the game really made me go OMG, wasn't even the fight with Liberty. Tactical combat is out the door. Always initiate combat and you'll win. If the AI starts, you're always at an extreme disadvantage. Make sure you have a few good melee specs (brawlers or blades, blunt seems a waste and too much AP cost). Kill at least 3 mobs in the first round, everyone on their side "panics". At that point, the combat is typically won. Wasteland 2 seemed to be a better flushed out game; this felt contrived and forced into "This or That" scenarios too much, which honestly didn't always make sense. Yes, I beat it with the best possible scenario to save everyone and everything with peaceful transition. I did like the ending for WL3 with the nice improved music based on your exploits.

Cyberpunk 2077

Pretty dolled up but empty headed

I am a Cyberpunk fanboy. Not so much the game or this company; however, I used to love playing Cyberpunk tabletop and really looked forward to what this game could be. This is not what I hoped nor expected; it was not what I was sold that it could be for the past several years. Written for 01/11/2021 on patch 1.06; The game looks amazing; beautiful. The sounds are pretty good, but not the best. Bugs exist, but not so bad on this deployment. Current state of the game could have used six months to another year or so just to polish this out considerably better. The main story line is short. When I finally beat the game, I couldn't believe how exceptionally short the main campaign really was. There were a number of side quests that were longer and better done. Now that I've completed the game, I feel no motivation to go back and play. No spoilers here; for myself, I have no need to play further. Side stories are where the game does shine. Some are incredibly deep and well written, some are stupid and shallow. The good ones do out weigh the bad, but the bad definitely outnumber the good. Combat: Works, but could have been considerably better. Not the best, not the worst. AI is terrible. Police system is one of the worst implementation I've ever seen. Summation: It's a wonderful world I really wanted to see shine. It does... but as soon as you really play the game, you'll see its exceptionally empty. It's big, its vast, and so very empty. There is a lot of pretty fluff to impress, but it leaves you wanting so much more. For myself, it felt like a Dues Ex clone in an open world with no "load" screens (elevators anyone?) with a lesser implementation for RPG elements, combat, hacking, and enjoyment. Maybe, I'll come back in a year and look again; though I doubt it.

System Shock Demo

Broken

Demo is broken, can't get past the first intro explaining the game. Second screen shows system startup demo at an extremely blown up size; then stops working. Alienware R8, Core i7 9700K, nVidia 2080 Super (drivers 446.14), 32G ram, M.2 SSD drive should not be a problem for this game.

Wasteland Remastered

Remastered Graphics, nothing else

Played via XBox pass as I've got it free right now. Loved the original, this is garbage. Looks like someone's college thesis to get into inXile. Not worthy of their recent resurgence and success. Money grab for almost no work. You're better off playing the DOS version.

ELEX

Meh...

Decent time filler. Has some depth to it, but execution is all over the place. Voice acting is sub par, combat system is terrible, the "cold" system is really terrible. Completed the game totally with all subquests. Shows 100 hours, but I had a few nights where I left the PC running. Probably more around 60 hours total. It's ok, but don't expect a high end RPG. This was a testament to my willingness to beat the game so I never want nor need to play it again; that is the only reason why I kept playing. Boring, lackluster, shallow, terrible combat, flat voice actors (like reading a drivers license test), and poor real character growth. One thing it does get right is every action has a reaction. You will not make everyone happy.

StarCrawlers

Space RPG Crawler with Gusto

I'm a Kickstarter backer for this game and have been actively playing this game since early Alpha. It's grown leaps and bounds, the devs continue to work on improving this product at every iteration, and its been a fun time seeing the game continue to grow and change. Before they fixed compatibility on saves going forward, I had to restart so many times, lol. I do not regret it, and the game has definitely been one of my favorites since I got my hands on it. This is a good, fun RPG crawler game in space with graphics and sound; a die hard classic crawler fan knows ASCII is still better ;) Pick it up and enjoy the nuances of this game

Race Driver: GRID

Still one of my favorite racing games!

I can not express how much we love this game. We being a bunch of gamers who love driving games and its still one of our default games to go to because of the physics and the mechanics of the game. Multiplayer through the game is now dead, thanks to Codemaster's who stopped supporting it. However, its still possible to play online with friends through third party apps like Game Ranger. Link to setup here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydILx5D9_Sg To unlock all cars for fun/multiplayer and to use any car on any map, install the ACAT mod (All Cars, Any track) http://www.moddb.com/mods/grid-13-anycar-anytrack-mod/news/grid-acat-mod Hope to see you on the tracks!
