I've been waiting for this remake for years .Watched an amateur translation of the series into English , ordered the fifth episode directly from Japan on PS2 ..... And today, out of the blue, a 3D remake of the SNES classic I used to play in an emulator on PC a decade ago jumps out at me. I'm not going to say this game is a must for me, but I'll have to wait to buy it due to the price tag. Playing games like Final Fantasy Tactics , Fire Emblem , or Advance Wars and my favorites Battle Isle and Panzer General is a challenge that will last for years. And in the case of this remake, I just hope that the complete Front Mission turn-based series will finally make it to Europe (we'd better tactfully forget about the action titles that have already been released on PC, and LeftAlive has remained unrecognized as a Front Mission sequel - but Solid Snake was certainly not in vain). What will the Front Mission 1st remake offer ? A solid serving of tactics on the chessboard , a set story through the eyes of the other side of the first Huffman conflict and now finally a 3D treatment of the first game ( the SNES version was cute but times have moved on ) Chessboard battlefields await you, tactics and dressing up your own Wanzers. There's a story of camaraderie and betrayal and a little bit of that stereotypical arena grind to earn better hardware, weapons and Wanzers. This was only the beginning of the series and I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the series ;)
It is a classic seen many times and born many times. This is the next iteration of a hundred times seen. Is it playing well? Yes, it does. Do I want to play this version? ...yes, I do, but the condition is that it's priced like the games it competes with. And Pitfall doesn't sell much anymore.
This game was already weird at the time of its original launch. At the time of Doom and Doom 2, it took its visuals but the maps followed the original 90° concept in Wolfenstein, plus they added a technologically absolutely confusing verticality in the form of platforms made up of 2D sprites. Unfortunately, the maze design itself is what brings down the gaming experience. What in the form of shareware could be accepted as a better amateur clone of 3D FPS in their early days is now well beyond the edge to which today's gamer is accustomed. Who wants to experience a blind branch of development, this amateur-designed legendary game can be a good fit.
PC version is missing here. This Is ONLY PS/Sega levels of PowerSlave... I am very disappointed with the preferred Vulcan API. There isn't any option which API can use your hardware .ONLY non intuitive switch command exist :( And under DX11 version this game has problems with screen synchronization . I'm used to better conversions from Nightdive :/
