Played: Version 1.0 (6 years old) (2 available versions spanning 10 years at the time of writting this) PC used: R5 5600x / RTX 3060 (12gb) / Win 10 Pro 10.0.19045 Although the idea is simple (spin to avoid walls, survive till you beat your old score) it's the simplicity that makes this enjoyable, and the challenge of its speed keeps you on your toes. Great for wasting a little time, jump in, try your luck, jump out if need be. Been playing this off and on for practically 10 years now, was fun playing it in college years ago, and its still fun today! Caution: lots of spinning and color changes, if you know you get easily dissorientated then this may hit you hard. Only complaint - no settings to change effects, could help with dissorientation for other people. 9.5/10
First discovered this game on my Evercade VS a few months back when it arrived as the 'Game Of The Month'. Played it so much and I had so much fun with it, I had to buy it when the Indie Heroes Collection 3 released. Thrilled to see it come to GOG too, its just pure arcade fun with a fantastic soundtrack and amazing visuals. Highly recommended.
Played: Version 1.2.0b (6 days old - 5 available versions spanning 5 months at time of writting) PC used: R5 5600x / RTX 3060 (12gb) / Win 10 Pro 10.0.19045 I've never been a big Mega Man fan, only played the first level of the first and that's it. Gravity Circuit had as similar feel but it drew me in instantly with its additional mechanics and great Pixel Art (be it the characters/enemies or the Level scenery) and especially the soundtrack which sounds amazing and fits the level/character themes well! Level design was also fantastic, some were normal but others implemented really fun and intricate quirks you need to adapt to. The combat took some getting used to but for the most part it was pretty good but it feels weird not having a hand cannon lol. I have some issues, the final boss run felt unbalanced in the early stage, it's a doozy. I also had an issue with how you cant jump or run until your attack animation is complete, that has gotten me many game overs I could have avoided, it also made for a hard time in the final boss. Lastly I cant count the amount of bosses at 1 hit left and the invuln kicks in, shouldn't be so quick to trigger IMO. Overall Fantastic game, but some bosses are definitely a 'learn from constant failure' type. 8.5/10
Played: Version 17276 (22 days old - only version at the time of writing) PC used: R5 5600x / RTX 3060 (12gb) / Win 10 Pro 10.0.19045 Phantom Fury reminds me a lot of Deus Ex and Half-Life, There's a lot to like but other things feel a bit lacking, I'll start with the good: Lots of very unique weapons that sound and feel solid, only one felt underpowered, Great Upgrade system for your character and weapons which can really change your play style. Map Design was great, visually fantastic and layout wise its easy to read (got lost once or twice though), some hidden level oddities gave me a good chuckle. World interactions feel like Deus Ex, for the most part its really well done. Terminals let you control things and the logs add some world building, many helpful items that you can throw/hold or stack. Pretty solid Enemies too, they run fast, take cover, flank, flush you out with grenades or rushing, and there's good variety of them to face. Music was excellent and I only wish there weren't so many areas with no music. Ohh and the minigames were good too, loved the air hockey table. Now the bad: Handful of bugs that range from being momentary to intrusive needing a game restart. One upgrade bug persisted in a later level and that hindered me till the end, very annoying. Movement and physics reminds me of Half-Life 2 which is good but some things like stacking or throwing can be clunky at times. Story is great in concept but it needed to be fleshed out more, especially for the later levels, I would gladly replace two early levels for two late game levels. The plot felt rushed at times and sadly some parts of the trailer never happen in game which was a major bummer, even the Blade cameo felt WAY too short, was hoping he'd be around for at least 3 levels. Sadly no enemies from Ion Fury make a return and I kind of wish they did to spice things up. Lastly not all weapons could be upgraded, wish they could, more than two options each would've been nice. 7/10
Played: Version 1.0.4 (11 days old - only version available at the time of writing) PC used: R5 5600x / RTX 3060 (12gb) / Win 10 Pro 10.0.19045 I played the original DF on PS1 back then and it was a joy to see it again with a fresh coat of paint, controller support, lots of settings to tweak the audio and visuals (even the crosshair shape and color), achievements (which helped me discover something I missed all those years ago), bonus material like concept art and even the 1995 CES demo! No crashes, only one or two textures had a weird flicker but regardless very well done and I loved how I could swap between the remastered and softrware render graphics on the fly. 9.5/10
