YIIK: A Postmodern RPG

It's okay..

I maybe had higher expectations about this game than I should have. I like it a lot but honestly it's exausting to play at some points. Though the gameplay and story aren't too bad honestly. The most troubling and annoying thing is probibly how preachy it gets. If you want to teach some morals in your game it's fine but don't go having the characters just throw it at the player in a way that's frankly it's cringy. Basically "White people don't think about the troubles of black people." is completely misses because you just had the characters say that and didn't go through the trouble to imply it in the story, It's insulting in a way because you the developer are implying the player wouldn't catch onto that kind of lession unless they had it screamed at their faces. Your delivery needs some work and you want to have the player come to those conclusions and learn those things for themselves and not just throw it in their faces. This game would definately get another star if the story wasn't structered the way it was and delivered right.

We Happy Few

Disapointment.

The game is just open world for the sake of being open world. There was no fun to be had dealing with this simi-survival system they put in place or the constant non-stop need to do combat at ever turn. There is such a good story here, so much that could have been done. If they had just made this a liniar game and focoused on the storytelling this game would have been amazing. Not to mention the fact that if the game had launched without being so buggy it would have given it a little more credibility. Clearly they just gave up when they had something barely functioning as a game and went with it. Not planning to buy games from these guys anymore, they have just straight up ruined any association with quality they ever had.

Omensight

TERRIBLE CONTROLS

It's a great game but it's like someone wanted to reinvent the wheel over there. Sure replacing weels with squares is "diffrent" but it doesn't exactly work. Platforming over anything can be hard when you have a buttion to push and a mouse to aim very carefully in order to move in the right direction. I don't understand why you take a control scheeme that worked perfectly fine and needed to overcomplicate it. Get a controller for the love of god, don't even think about using a keyboard and mouse unless you are just one of those people who gets a good kick out of having their nipples twisted around backwards while hot irons are jabbing their sides. The game is really good though, buy it on console. With a controller... that you can use instead.. without having flashbacks of surgen simulator.

Little Nightmares

Amazing!

This game managed to give me a few jumpscares and feelings of suspense. You wouldn't expect that from a 2.5D platformer but yet it manages to connect with you in a deep meaningful way. You feel as though you are an observer watching the journey of this strange little creature. From the beginning you know that this little friend is quite knowledgeable about the world around them and that begins to hook you in, you watch and observe trying to learn about this story of this one little creature and it is genuinely rewarding when you slowly connect the pieces of its life. From beginning to end this game was pure excitement. There is even some replayability to unlock the secrets you might have missed on the first time around. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves a good playformer and a great story.
