+ Perfect tone match for the movies + Engaging enough gameplay + Endevours to capture some police work apart from action so it is less monotonous - story is really stupid - combat is kinda limited and repetetive at times This is a solid game that is definitely worth getting in discount. But it also shows it is a fairly low budget. Especially by reusing the same city map for 4 missions.
Tyranny is... a good game. But if you came here after playing Pillars of Eternity (especially Deadfire), lower your expectation. While the lore and the world is interesting, it is not as rich and interesting as Eora. Nor are the characters and stories in it. Even levels leave... something to be desired I quite can't put my finger on. It just feels barebones in some way. Mind you there is A LOT of room below PoE so Tyranny is still a fun game to play. What I like is reputation system that forgoes morality scale and operates exclusively on the basis of your reputation with different factions and persons. Some artifacts in the game can level up too - but again it feels like poor cousin of Soulbound system from PoE. Caster classes can design their own spells with different intensities, AoE and effects which is honestly pretty awesome idea but personally I ended up using few optimal templates in the end. Fort building system is also nice, but again - it lacks depth. My biggest gripe with the game is that even though your character is supposed to be investigator, judge and executioner rolled up into one person, the game actually does not give you many opportunities to act as such. Sure, there is occasional disagreement you can make a ruling over, one or two short investigations but I am missing some proper detective quests to sink my teeth into.- something along the lines of "Inquisitor" Now, I know this reads like a negative review but it really is not. This is still pretty fun game and if you like RPGs you should grab it - especially if it's on discount. It's just that as I played it I could not shake the feeling that it is a shadow of much better game it could have been if it got more love, time and effort from devs.
