Quake Enhanced

Make a damn sequel already

Quake is a unique game, one of a kind, with atmosphere and visual design to this day matched by a few handful of games and supported by perfect although slightly too simple controls. One of the very few games where it's disjointed development and incohesive nature works in favor of the game, contributing to it's surreal and otherworldly feeling. id, make finally a sequel and use one of the Outer Gods for it.

DOOM 3: BFG Edition

It's fine, but...

It is fine if one wants any Doom 3. It works, is hassle free and looks good, but way too well lit. But all the alterations and missing content water the game down to the point of being unenjoyable for me. The doubled amount of all ammunition in particular. I emptied entire clips randomly into the Level just because I could and still couldn't manage to get below 200 bullets and 50 shells during fights. If you just want to shoot monsters, it's great, I really mean this unironically. But if you want Doom 3 then either play this with a sourceport or if you don't want any alterations (especially the models, shadows and enemy placement) buy and play the original, also with a sourceport to cater to modern display resolutions and gpu's.

Strong art with unfavourable writing

Insane opnening and strong first half of the game. But then the game sabotages itself with at times completely unintuitive and a few times extremely badly communicated puzzles, seemingly never ending dialogues with little to no essence or importance and progressively selfdestructing writing, which degrades into fully perfected and basically inconsequencial nonsense. All my investment in the backstories and questions were rewarded from the game with a big "La La La, we just make something up and the most implausible possibilities are what actually was happening." It is by no stretch a bad game in any way, but play it for the riddles, the really out there characters and designs and for the often great executed unpredictability of this game, because here it delivers, and it delivers really good. But if you are in search for a story, that respects the at times extremely heavy themes it brings up and tying everything together into a meaningful conclusion, you will not find it here and feel (like me) pretty insulted in a way regarding storytelling, because it devolves practically into full, unironic shlock, which in my opinion is inappropriate in regards to the very heavy themes it wants to lift.

Ideology in Friction Deluxe Edition

Big Tiddies sell.

Oh yes, they do. And that´s a good thing and something that encourages just to have silly fun with it. More of that, please. The more, the better. I never understood that 'logic' anyway: Brutality and killing: not perverted and good. Fluffy warm Tiddies: absolutely perverted and bad! Oh, and the game certainly is great!...? For.. playing.. of course..

Blood: Fresh Supply

Almost well done.

An absolutely great game, that is sadly held back by its rough edges. While one could argue that the jank contributes to its charm and it indeed leads to some hillarious unscripted situations, I was also equal times highly frustrated by the game´s apparently inconsistent rules. Until you slowly understand how the jank works and you start using it to cheese the enemies. But the point of my rambling is that without the quirks, flaws and bugs, which are not all attributed to Fresh Supply, but are also present in the original, this game would be perfection. It is so damn close. It is created with so much love, detail, thought and an deep understanding of design, that it is a shame that it breaks immersion with me being completely invincible against Stone Gargoyles just because I am crouching for example. Or getting instakilled by three fanatics while moments ago I cleared out an entire room with seven of them while taking 12 damage at most. The games difficulty (which isn´t all THAT difficult once you know your tools and enemies) would be recieved a lot better if the rulework dictated by the mechanics of the engine would be more reliable, but that´s the BUILD Engine. What´s left is a game that is without a doubt among the best, once you managed to get under its inaccessible, cold and rejecting exterior. Buy this true work of art!

SUPERHOT

Love it.

I love SUPERHOT. It is such fun to see the red dudes shatter into crystalline pieces. I love the style and slightly weird atmosphere of the game. As fun as it was, this game has room for improvements (please a sequel?), like more variety in the enemies and more weapons. An minimalistic and stylized soundtrack would have worked wonders for the game. I also think that the game could benefit from a slighly more playful and experimental leveldesign. But I had and have a great time with SUPER HOT SUPER HOT SUPER '8H=:E&!°L?':P&:!&M*&E!$&P?)L=)%E"?#A+,.-S=?`-E#

Paranautical Activity Deluxe Atonement Edition

Paradumbical Sucktivity: Ultimate Horror

This Game was one of the most frustrating, angerinducing Games that I ever played in my entire life. I hate this game to the deepest core of my blood and soul. It is unfair and unbalanced, the music is torture and I am a Hardcoretechno veteran, there are only very few sounds in the game and most are weak and shallow and the graphics are destroying the receptorcells in your eyes. Gameplaywise we have unspeakably weak and bland designed weapons, that are mostly useless apart from the shotgun and the plasmachaingun, which are like using toyguns or Nerf. The greatest are the collisions with the levels, where I time and again got stuck in the geometry of the stairs, so that the enemys could just finish me off. Also great was the four-corner-blandness, that the guy, who somehow brought his computer to ejaculate this game into existence, calls "leveldesign". HEY, lets smack some swastikas to the walls in later level and call that "New Levels"! Everything looks exactly the same, and no, it also must be dark as ass because you could probably win if you could see the enemies, who are all bland, generic and mostly ripoffs from games like Doom (Flaming Skulls, Barons of Hell, Vagary from Doom 3), Blood (winged skeleton with sword), AD&D (Beholder), Gary from Spongebob (Giant Snail) and so forth... The Items sucks and make either barely any difference or stab you in the back with draconic negative permaeffects. I could bring on a lot more, but after wasting nearly 20 Hours in this game for an indepht review I had to do, I just want to never see this most sicknessinducing fraud of a game and forget, that I wasted also a reduced price of 6$ on this undead, hollow, soulless shell of a game. Stay away. It´s not bad that it´s good, it´s just bad in the worst way.
