If you really like to enjoy the game without any hustle, means hit play and go: You can increase (and decrease) performance in DosBox with CTRL + F12 / CTRL + F11 Keep in mind this is a standard DosBox Feature you often HAVE to use with DosBox for many games, has nothing to do with GoG. Of course the GoG-port itself could be way better but it is so sad most people could not enjoy a game like Privateer 2 (and DosBox in general) because they just don't know about CPU-cycles etc. How many stars should I vote now? 5 stars for the game, 1 star for the lazy DosBox-Port (after 10 years without changes) so I give 4 stars and hope you guys will enjoy the game straight! CTRL + F12 if ANY DosBox game runs too slow (and CTRL + F11 if too fast), just burn that into your mind my friends :)
Not only did I play this with my neighbour for so many hours, I still play this game from time to time. 5 Stars! It is one of those old school games that are quite fun but drives you mad as soon as you wanna win ;) On championship, you race against 5 opponents. First championship is with easy opponent, then medium, hard and finally hard with inverted tracks. You gain points after every race and you MUST be on first place to progress further. On every difficulty setting you got 3 "lifes". So, on the harder settings, you better restart if you don't get 1st place on the first race. And remember: take a break if the game starts to drive you mad :) btw I never managed to get the game run in 3dfx but just today I found a solution: just google "ignition dgvoodoo" or "ignition 3dfx" and look for the entry on the gog forum from january 2017 ("3dfx version?" The gog release has some missing files that are necessary for 3dfx to run, and there is a link in the forum where you can download those files. Just tested it and it works, no virus there either :) Enjoy!
Ich liebe dieses Game schon seit der Demo-Version zum Release! Nach 1-2 Wochen hab ich meistens genug, dafür zocke ich es alle paar Jahre wieder und wieder :) Der Soundtrack ist sehr nett und nervt nicht. Vor allem die Grafik ist gut gealtert. Nur die Kampagne hab ich noch nie durchgespielt. Ich fange halt immer wieder von vorne an :D
