Jazz Jackrabbit Collection

Good start, the sequel is better

This series is probably the some of the best platformer games on the PC platform. The gameplay is similar to the fast paced running action of Sonic the Hedgehog, but with the added aspect of blasting away your enemies. The graphics are beautifully drawn, but a bit too large for the lower resolution of a DOS game. Some of the best music I've heard in a DOS game as well. But for all the great things about this game, the sequel did everything better while maintaining the best parts of Jazz Jackrabbit 1. There's no real reason to get this one over the sequel unless you want both. Either buy the bundle or buy the sequel first and this later. That said, Jazz Jackrabbit 1 is well worth the purchase on its own if it's the game you're after. (Reviewing the game, not the GOG release)

Darksiders Warmastered Edition

A great cross between Zelda and GOW

Disclosure: I own this game on Steam, so my review applies to the game itself while assuming there are no gameplay differences between the GOG and Steam versions. Darksiders is a cross between Legend of Zelda and God of War. There is exploration rivaling that of Orcarina of Time between levels, but with combat similar to beat-em-ups such as God of War. The game constantly throws new things at you to keep it fresh, and while it doesn't do anything particularly original, it uses the mechanics that it "steal" to their fullest potential for maximum fun. This makes it a great game in itself precisely because it builds upon existing mechanics rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. A controller is highly recommended in a game like this, KB+M doesn't cut it here.
