the game is great for the start into legacy of kain universe to learn about kains past play it either first or after soul reaver 2 because it fits the story line very well the controls are not intuitive for the modern age check the options before you start the story and rebind the keys if you can there are no tutorials on what button to press prepare acordingly once you do tho the game is quite easy to understand just dont get confused with the beginning you are supposed to become a vampire
The way the quests open up the story and change it is just amazing. There are a lot of options to play for everybody. And even if you don't focus on Charisma (the dialogue stat) you get additional ways of convincing other characters. Just Save often and for the scummy even in conversation :P The combat can feel difficult at first but don't be intimidated and if you have family or other things to take care of in RL there is always the story difficulty so you can enjoy the game the way you like it.
