Pure Settlers Fun
I was looking for this in everywhere. I owned it CD but lost it. Now i got a chance to play it again. I liked the last releases of Settlers franchise but Settlers 1&2 were the best. I'm a Settlers fan since Amiga. You can play Settlers 7 and enjoy it but believe me, this is "Settlers".

Amazing to see this alive again
This game took me by surprise back when it came out. This is an actually faithfull remake of Settlers II. It keeps virtually all things the original games had, making it really great to play. If you enjoyed the original Settlers 1/2, this is an instant recommendation from me. A proper "remake". I hope they'll release the expansion pack (Vikings!) and the successor (though it might be that it was only released in Germany, "Aufbruch der Kulturen", where you play Bavarians, Egypts or Scots).

Little disapointed
I´ve played both games some years ago, and both are exceptionaly good games, though I have to say original is better. What I miss in this newer version is old intro and story, the new one visualy doesn´t fit the game and I personally consider it ugly. Another thing are maps. They are almost same as in original but about 3x times larger, so one mission takes more time and much more building is needed to cover it. This really can diminish fun you experienced with original.

Awesome to begin with, hours of playtime
I'm very fond of the beginning of The Settlers series till 4 and after 5 I've left to greener pastures since it didn't had the feel that settlers previously had. With this installment however, they brought back the magic and playfulness of Settlers. Although I would seriously be impressed by GOG if they tried to contact bluebyte and kinda... get the expansion packs that where only in german (mainly the vikings one) and never had a chance to play. Hope is small but I'll keep hoping. Anyway BUY THIS GAME!

Finally available to North America!
Heyyo, When they first announced Settlers 2: 10th Anniversary? I was excited... then they never released it in North America and I couldn't find it online on the Ubisoft store or Blue Byte or anything.... luckily? GOG saves the day again, giving me the option to play the game legally. Buying it now. :P The game itself is Settlers 2 with an impressive graphics, music and sound effects overhaul. The introduction of different nations is also a nice thing to see. As others have mentioned hopefully we'll get to see the Vikings expansion as well. ;)
