The Last Spell

A Remarkably Enjoyable Tactics Game

The Last Spell is impressively fun and subtely complex in the best possible way. A tactics rpg meets rogue-light in design, you are taske with taking a small number of characters with impressively animated, almost overpowered-feeling abilities against an immense number of undead in a king-of-the-hill style holdout. Skills are fun to use, passives are interesting and impactful, equipment is cool visually, and base building is simple, but fun. While the writing can be corny or sometimes feels like something a 16 year old would include, it's not a major component of the game. You are playing this to test your tactical skill and watch cool spells mow down dozens of skeletons and other horrifying undead monsters. If you like games like Battle Brothers or maybe Disgaea and don't mind an indie game focused on mission-based gamplay over narrative, give this game a look.
