TL;DR: Good Game, A Bit Buggy/Janky. Buy on Sale or Grab During A GOG Giveaway (like I did) Very fun game. I lost half of my day to it without realizing. That being said there's a fair amount of graphical glitches and some buggy/jankyness that will get on your nerves. For example text on a wall or sign will glitch out and start flashing, sometimes your character won't move when reloading a save (only happened to me once) and once or twice my character's head and neck moved side to side without being triggered by any prompts. Sometimes prompts require a sweet spot to interact with them. Worth it on sale. Keeps you engaged in the story and characters, everything you love about classic Private Detective Noir, but in an Interactive Fiction / Mystery Game format.
I have the diamond edition and bought this one for the upgraded graphics. I swear I was born too late. I would have loved to have witnessed these games first come out and experience them that way. The Neverwinter series, Balder's Gate, and Planescape never stop being fun. There's a number of DnD and CRPG games out there, but so far Neverwinter Nights has been my all time favorite video game adaptation of one of the greatest tabletops to ever exist. I plan on buying more of the originals like Icewind Dale and such. Honestly wish there could be more games like there out. The CRPG genre is really a mixed bad right now with big company giving us garbage and using a name to sell it to indie games which are really a hit or miss but can often succeed. Honestly believe that among younger players these games shouldn't go so unnoticed. I've often referred to going back and playing these games to a returning to your roots type deal. If it wasn't for these games there's a lot we have now that wouldn't be out there. Honestly love the classic DnD games with all my heart. They have given me much joy and frustration but I stay hooked.
