The nostalgia goggles are often strapped on a little bit too tight on these reviews... Albeit a unique classic (and free), it's just not that good compared to others in the genre released around the same time. Enemy flight patterns are clunky and unsatisfying to dodge or blow through. You can't actually utilize all the space given on screen, so a simple dodge maneuver will end with you hugging an invisible wall and taking a life ending laser blast. The audio is not only limited, but feels incomplete. Some shortcomings are relieved by good role-playing elements and a neat classic scifi aesthetic. I don't get the high praise this game gets, maybe I'd have to be a dinosaur to understand.
