This game surprised me positively in a wide variety of aspects. -Good Visuals with plenty references to OG Resident Evil titles from the PS1 era - The story for the majority of it is pretty interesting with plenty unexpected curve balls - Characters constantly do things that you don't expect deviating from usual zombie game cliches. - The combat is challenging with the addition of the fast reload mechanic in which you drop your magazine on the ground. The bad things: - Some puzzles are completely random, either requiring very especific IRL knowledge, giving vague descriptions or even hints that are the OPPOSITE of what you need to complete it. - Lore File sizes are WAY TOO BIG. I love reading lore in these games but usually files should be 2 to 3 pages MAX. In DAYMARE it is not uncommon to find files up to 10 pages long which makes reading it a CHORE! - The inventory screen is way too slow which makes reloading mags or healing yourself during huge fights (especially against bosses) pretty much impossible. Overall I had a good experience with only a few moments of frustration. I would recommend if you want MORE survival horror in your life.
The game has nice graphics and interesting looking scenarios. It really evokes the feeling of exploring and backtracking that the PS1 Resident Evil had. The game is a little janky combat wise but nothing that jeopardize the experience. What made me a little frustrated is that they turn up the amount of key items through the roof and you DEFINITELY don't have enough inventory space. You can see that this part could've been developed a little bit more but considering it seems to be the 1st game from the studio I'm pretty sure it will be improved. Overall it's an interesting survival horror . Give it a shot!
This game is a gem of the PS3/360 generation. One that deserved more time in development and definitely more attention from gamers but the guys at PANDEMIC still managed to deliver an AMAZING experience. If you enjoy games like Mercenaries or Just Cause and you want to kick ass this is THE GAME for you. WWII, Amazing soundtrack, nice cars...nice guns and pretty babes. One can't ask for more! Come on monsieur...the French resistance needs ya!
