Darksiders III

Very fun!

Found this game quite fun in a simplistic hack 'n slash kinda way and I think this is my new favourite in the series. Of course because this game is slightly difficult and has a few soulslike elements it gets constantly compared to Dark Souls but the combat itself honestly felt more like Bayonetta to me with a couple of RPG stats thrown in.

Batman™: Arkham Knight

The Best Batman Game!

The fun freeflow combat the Arkham games are famous for is still here and it's better than ever but honestly how much you'll enjoy this game will depend on how much you'll enjoy the Batmobile because it's a big chunk of the game. Personally I loved the Batmobile because it added some variety compared to the other Arkham games which tended to be pretty samey just with different maps and stories.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

This game broke me

To date this is the only horror game that I'm legitimately too terrified to play for more than an hour or so at a time and the new hard mode is even more terrifiying. This game perfectly captures Lovecraftian horror - the fear of the unknown. Don't read any guides and play this game in the dark with headphones to have the maximum effect.

Psychonauts 2

This game made me tear up...

Tears of joy! Fun game design is not dead after all! This game controls very well and the level designs are some of the most imaginative I've seen in ages. The story is gripping and sort of dark yet humorous at the same time. A game hasn't made me feel this pure childhood joy since I played Mario Galaxy for the first time in around 2010. Worth the full asking price, you won't regret it, especially if you enjoyed the original Psychonauts.

Darksiders III Deluxe Edition

A flawed gem!

The combat was excellent in this game. Playing on Classic mode this game felt more like Soulsvania mixed with Bayonetta than Dark Souls to me, because most combat is centered on the dodging mechanic which, instead of slowing down time for a while like in Bayonetta, will allow you to do a counterattack which does arcane damage. This requires you to learn the movesets of every enemy, including the trash mobs, which on harder difficulties can make short work of your health bar, so you can time your dodges right. The level design is very much Metroidvania, you get upgrades called the Hollows which unlock new paths you can take so there'll be the usual backtracking once you get all the Hollows if you want to find all the secrets. I played on Reckoning and had a lot fun! Nevertheless there were some issues with the camera and movement - like if you fight multiple enemies and some of them are off screen, your only indicator is a dinky little arrow which doesn't tell you much when you have to time the dodges with split-second timing. Especially because Fury can't cover too much ground while many of the enemies' attacks can close the gap faster than you can say "F*ck!". This was frustrating on Reckoning and made me sometimes cheese the game by pulling enemies one by one. There were also some performance issues. I have a GTX 3060 and I was met with frequent fps drops to the mid-40s, three crashes and I also encountered this odd bug that locked my fps to 30 until I restarted the game. Nevertheless I recommend this game if you like difficult, skill-based games. It's not a button masher like the previous two though, so don't expect that going in. Personally, I appreciate each entry in the Darksiders series switching things up and trying different gameplay styles. Here's hoping there'll be a Darksiders IV!

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Good game marred by technical issues

I'd see myself enjoying this game a lot if it weren't for the numerous technical issues. It wasn't so bad at first but now I'm annoyed. During the 15 hours I played this game I've met with constant crashes to desktop, freezing and sometimes the controls for interacting with the environment would just not work until I restarted the game. I'd give this game a lower score if I wouldn't have gotten it on sale.
