The stuttering in the game takes away from the gameplay. Throughout the intro I just kept lowering the display settings. Once the intro was over and the brief cinematic cutscene played I realized not only were my settings on low but so were my expectations. During the intro, I'm playing this survival horror game where "every bullet counts"...progressing along. Eventually I get a tip in the UI telling me that "shooting enemies in the legs will knock them over giving you an opportunity to reposition". Ok, cool! Said encounter happens. I take aim for the kneecap...BAM. My charged bullet, 1 of 12, is now lodged in the aluminium frame 3ft to the right of the enemy because the game stuttered. The Pause screen then appears because I got ****** up. There is a game here and I'm going to hold onto it in the hopes that future patches will allow better immersion but in its current state I can't recommend this game. I do have high hopes for the future of this game, the IP, and future games from Bloober. But I need to play something else right now.
Man this game. Mmmf! This game! Once you get into the “flow” the gameplay is very addicting. The art style is beautiful 80s/90s anime. They really nailed it. But the backstory taps into that Deus Ex vain in a witty way. I’m having many moments of “Yes…Yes!” during cutscenes. Im thinking of using this game to introduce transhumanism, eugenics, technique, and media studies to the youths out here in the land of the real.
