Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Digital Deluxe Edition

Not today, Beamdog

Get woke, go broke. Also, this game is a hot mess that isn't "enhanced" at all. It's the original with some weak modes added.

POSTAL: Classic and Uncut

An unapologetically twisted game

This game was ahead of it's time in terms of it's mature and disturbing content. While not prefect, it is certainly the most serious and no-nonsense of any of the Postal titles, and it is the perfect game for when you feel like taking out all of your anger and aggression on the world.

Soldier of Fortune: Platinum Edition

Very underrated FPS finally on GOG!

This game was way ahead of its time when it came out in 2000. It featured a modified idtech 2 engine called GHOUL, which was capable of displaying the most graphic depictions of violence ever. Each enemy's body was divided into zones, and each zone displayed damage differently based on what weapon was used and how the player aimed. Shoot someone with a 9mm pistol and you will certainly make holes in their body, but due to the relatively low ballistic velocity and damage potential of the weapon, the amount of gore will be minimal. If, on the other hand you shoot someone in the leg with a shotgun, their leg will be amputated. Limbs can be severed by gunfire, heads can explode, enemies can be disemboweled, etc. This attempt at realistic gore had never been done to my knowledge until Soldier of Fortune. Beyond the gore, the game itself is very cool as well. You do battle in a number of exotic locations, and you have access to a large variety of weapons. The voice acting is mostly good with only a few minor hiccups, and the cutscenes serve to advance the plot well. One minor gripe is that, for the 87 millionth time, the bad guys are a group of "evil white people", but what did you expect from our politically correct world? I'm sure the developers would have been labeled as racist if they had made a game where the opponents were anything other than Caucasian, which is sad. The only thing left for GOG to do(which I will be pressing hard for) is to also make the Linux version available for download. This game was ported to Linux by Loki Software in the early 2000's, and we Linux folk deserve a native version of this awesome game, especially since that port is already available.
