I am the top 16th ranked player. Multiplayer is where this game shines. Alas, the developers put too much time and too many resources into building up the single-player game that the game was buggy on launch. They DID fix things, but by that point the playerbase had already dwindled. An awful shame, because this game really had potential.
You might have noticed there's a lot of DLCs. That should be a red flag. Stay away from this one. The game is a successor to the Wargame series, and there is merit in that, sure - I put quite a few hours into this one myself - but with every new DLC the multiplayer balance is thrown badly out of whack, forcing players to keep $helling out ca$h if they wish to remain competitive. What a disappointment!
The gameplay is meditative (which is fine *sometimes*) and the writing presents some interesting philosophical points, but also happens to be so far up Daddy Musk's @ that I have to wonder if he funded the game in part or in whole. Nice way to spend some time if you can handle the obvious propaganda that this is.
The game was actually better *earlier* in its development. It's been in development for over 7 years. It's time to put this one in ground. Don't buy it. There was too much hype built up around it at a time when indie games were having a moment in the spotlight.
I remember Redline as a great, unassuming title. I'd picked it up along with another game in the bargain bin, and it was quite some time before I'd installed this one and gotten into it --- but when I did, I was pleasantly surprised by a game which played out much better than the somewhat clunky HUD suggested it might. It was well worth the time it took to play it through.
