The game has a fun premise with its gun management system and the way it generates a maze for you to run, but unfortunately this does not save from its glaring flaws. There are 2 problems which I found made this game un-fun to play. 1. Janky movement controls your movement is tied heavily to an XYZ access and you’re never sure if you will get a long jump or just jump in place, on top of this you will get stuck on slopes and steps endlessly 2. Tedious game play loop. You won’t just jump in to the action with this game the loop goes like this. Start at shop Load clips Drive to your starting point of the maze Wonder maze Find inner ring and start fighting enemies Get shoot in back (even on easy you have very little health) Go back to start It’s just not a fun loop, you spend 10 minutes of prep for 5 minutes of game play. With some polish this could be a fun little game but in its current state it’s not worth the time to play.
One of the few games I have gotten a refund for. The idea is hit dodge hit dodge hit dodge and that's it its slow, its repetitive, its frustrating, and most of all boring .The game play mechanics are clunky you have to time your hit and then dodge perfectly or else you just take damage. It fallows a grid and timers that do not match the time of an animation so your mashing the dodge button waiting for the attack action timer to run out so you an get out of the way of the incoming swing, which will still hit causes it counts you as in that space even after you have moved. Then there is the gimmick of the game running a shop which just boils down to using prosses of elimination to charges as much money as possible before people wont buy it. All in all it feels very unfinished and clunky to play.
Bought this on Steam and returned it after 60 minuets of play. The game gimmick of running a shop get old fast but its real problem is how janky the controls are, the character moves in a very strong grid like manor which makes dodging tricky as well attack have long duration in which your charter just stands still waiting for the attack time to run out well you're hammering on the controls trying to get him to move out of the way of an incoming attack. All and all its just an unfinished combat system that I was so unimpressed with I got my money back.
The first few levels of Mirror's Edge are some of the most fun I have had in a video game bringing me back to the early Sonic games. Running through a large city roofscape having to think fast as you try and find the quickest routs. This all comes to an abrupt end one third of the way thorough the game as it switches from a parkour race through massive obstacle course to generic FPS, gone are the roofscapes with multiple routs and options replaced with tight corridors and waves of bad guys (city police) for you to gun down and a bland unimaginative story line. I give this game 3 stars as I did have a lot of fun with the first few levels, the game mechanics and controls run very well and it is quite pretty. Unfortunately what makes this game fun and unique is in a minority and I could not recommend it.
