There is nothing that can be said about this masterpiece thats hasn't been already told or so I thought because every playthrough you will find something new. The music, the atmosphere, the dialogue, the politics and the philosophy behind this game is unparalleled in the games yet to come (apart from SMAC which is on equal footing, heh). For linux (+ lutris) you will have to thinker with the resolution by editing the xy lines in the DeusEx.ini file since it cant go past the 700x700 something.
Works out of the box on both Windows 10 and Linux (+lutris). Personally, I always go with the Stracciatella for the improved vanilla experience but if you are looking for much more added stuff, go with the 1.3 instead. Its really one kind of the game, very memorable after all those years.
If you are on Linux (+lutris), just make sure to add the KeepRes=1 line in the conquest.ini file otherwise the game might not start for you. The problem i had in particular was whenever i would try to start the game, the initialisation wouldn't finish (selecting team colour) so this was bypassed by the already mentioned trick. Yes, there are some minor glitches like the cheering sound being on repeat after the people grant you the palace upgrade, but these are all artificial at best. Works like the charm on Windows 10, but dont forget to add the same line here as well. Alas, always have guards posted around your colonies...
If you are longing for the mixture of philosophy, strategy and unforgettable experience, just have this masterpiece installed. Otherwise, you might end up being nerve stapled!
