It's pretty much a mess. 1) In-game dev says it's out of EA so nothing will be fixed. 2) When you start the game, the character is outside the car and will sit on the back seat if you press E closer to it than to the front seat. and it won't move front from there - kinda what's the point in having character being able to seat there? 3) Someone mentioned that it is like a NES arcade racer - I think it's even worse. You have only one life and if you just touch the sidewalk - it's gameover, start from the beggining. 4) idea is fun, but after playing other game by that dev - the visual and music is no longer novel. 5) the menu is mostly broken - feels like some kinda student project. I guess that EA was for bug fixes since the game itself reminds me of what we were doing on CompSci's gamedev courses within a week (it was worth only 2 credits) - in other words I can't see what dev could've spent years on. Maybe more art and music? But the core gameplay is still in it's broken, infant state, Overall I can see the apeal. but I regret buying it my scores: 1/5 - this "game" shouldn't exist 2/5 - I guess someone might like it, but I regret buying it. 3/5 - I had some fun with it and do not regret buying it. 4/5 - I had completed this game and had overall good time with it. 5/5 - It's a great game, one of the bestest of all time!
"NeverSynth is a 3rd person game that is a RHYTHM driving simulator. " - that's a lie, gameplay and music isn't synced, and the "beats" you collect is simply currency. It's a simple runner like temple run or subway serfer- with one advantage and that is being add-free and without in-app shop. I kinda liked it, but 2-3 songs that it have gets annoying really quick. It has an option to select your own, but it couldn't find my mp3s... Also controller kinda works in the menu, but stops working at car/music selection and doesn't work in-game. It would be great if the controller worked, though it's not listed as supported on GoG (unlike steam) my scores: 1/5 - this "game" shouldn't exist 2/5 - I guess someone might like it, but I regret buying it. 3/5 - I had some fun with it and do not regret buying it. 4/5 - I had completed this game and had overall good time with it. 5/5 - It's a great game, one of the bestest of all time!
Yeah, the time limit gimmick is just not cutting it for me either. 4/10. The devs got talent. Like the game looks and runs perfectly, but the puzzles are nonsense and 1 minute lifespan is total shit. And yeah, I knew it even before buying it, I just thought that other reviewers were wrong and this mechanic has some potential - it does not.
Got bored pretty quickly. The game literally leads you by the hand. Why I'm note disappointed? It was clear from the beginning what this game offers so you know what you are getting. Why I give it only 5/10? It's pretty good game on its own, but we have a large quantities of good game to choose from, not every game can be 10/10. I do not regret buying it. Pretty good cozy game and pretty good game for someone who never played games before. If you are either new to video games or like cozy game - this game is for you, buy it for the full price. Otherwise, 70% discount was enough to justify it for me.
Pretty good game from the gameplay standpoint. Pretty graphics and runs well on the steam deck too. AA works excellent even on the 800p display. The characters are kinda disappointing (same as later seasons of the bob) but since it makes clear that their target audience is kids from the very first second of the game - it's perfectly fine. Overall it's a must buy, especially if you are nostalgic for the sponge bob, new to the video games (it's pretty easy to play, unless you are a game journalist) or simply want a cozy game for relaxation. 9.01/10.
Strong beginning, but weak middle... got too bored after 10hr and didn't finish. Pros: + unique visual design + unlimited ectus flusk rechargeable by attacking foes + cool special attacks + feels very nice to play + combat feels very responsive + enjoyable platforming moveset and gameplay in general + you can use environment to your advantage Cons: - repetitive enemies, almost nothing new after finishing the first territory. I at most bigger/smaller versions of the same enemies - they all feel the same to fight. The challenge comes from their numbers, not variarity... - on the nose story. Reads as a bottom barrel YA novel. - unbalanced combat. I haven't died even once within first 6 hours but within last 4 hours I died more than in the depths from Dark souls 1... - not really a metroidvania. There's a few underutilised mechanics from the genre, but they are lucklaster at best... - not really a souls-like. I mean enemy might have a lot of dmg and hp, but the fights aren't as enjoyable as it is usually is within the genre. I do not regret buying it, it's mostly solid game, but not for the full price and not even at 30% off, maybe better wait for 50%
Not only film grain is annoying in itself, this game implements it awfully - it's essentially unplayable on deck or any pc under 2k resolution. only at 2k-4k displays it is manageable - anything bellow and you are guaranteed to get a headache or throw up... There's also no option no remove this noise and no config file to remove it manually (it's made in the awful unity engine)
Took me about 23hr to beat it, some bosses and power seals took me like 20-50 deaths - and I absolutely loved it xD. First period of the game was very beutiful and I haven't even realized what have changed after transitioning to the 16 bit - until going back and seeing how much pretier the 16 bit is when going between them both xD Some levels are complete bs and require superb button mashing - between the two small sections of the late game levels that I hated/loved the most I probably spent 100+ lives... P.S. I'm not sure if I can call the later part a metroidvania. There was backtracking, puzzles and keys and even one power up (boots) but I don't think it captures the essense of the genre. Don't take me wrong, I absolutely loved this section of the game, but it reminded me more of the resident evil rather than metroid or hollow knight...
It should've been marked as dlc and be called as upgrade instead of the bundle - I hate when dlcs show up in the search even though I checked the "exclude dlc" box, because devs decided that it is a standalone release, even though you need the base game to play it...
