There are some neat aspects to this game, the world is huge, it looks alive. But... The appearance of life is very fleeting. Yes, the world is large, but I've never had that feeling of vibrancy I get from Witcher 3. The shooting is boring, the hacking isn't up with Deus Ex. The graphics are OK, but meh. Huge disappointment, and I certainly won't be paying for DLC.

I love the start of this game, and that's when I bought it originally. I was distracted, and in the meantime the redux version came out, so I bought it again (on sale, I'm not rich!). The atmosphere is amazing, really slick art style, and Haur is wonderful (RIP). I checked out the graphics options, and I won't lie, barely noticed ray tracing. There were definitely times missing shadows broke the mood. The story is OK, I was enjoying it, until i had to "observe" memories, which introduces annoying mini games like stealth which I hate, and really unsettling (deliberate) graphic glitches to give you a sense of broken memories, but left me with nausea. I could have lived with this, it would have been a solid 4-4.5 stars. But the bugs. 3 times in just 8hrs I had to load an old save (it does this automatically, nice!) because a door that should have opened remained locked. Or a computer screen that should have shown text was just white. It totally ruins the otherwise brilliant atmosphere. Can I recommend it? If you don't mind the bugs, sure. But this is the redux version - these bugs should have been ironed out BEFORE the graphic update. Such a shame.

It would be lazy to compare it to other indie darlings, but it stands on its own; a stylish, horror them puzzle game that is genuinely interesting to work out (i'm not the smartest with these, but I've not had to resort to YouTube yet!)

I'm a veteran gamer, I'm not shy of challenges, but my oh my do the "boss battles" in this game detract from an incredible experience. Wonderful graphics, superb sound and atmosphere let down by a hard fighting mechanic that needs a story mode.
