With great cartoon graphics, colorful backgrounds and wonderful music this is easily my favorit MI. Although I like all of them (and both the old and new versions of MI 1, 2) this one stands out. The intro alone is worth it, which is a very well done cartoon animation. There are lots of original puzzles and yes you might need a walkthrough some times (at least I did). But overall I had lots of fun with it. I only played the mega monkey edition (with more puzzles). Must have for any budding pirate.

This isn't a 'rosy glasses' review since I played this for the first time in 2019. Apparently a game from the 90's that I somehow missed back then. This is a great adventure game back when they were the most popular genre and that can be seen from the production values. Are adventure games now mainly made by fans or small companies, back then they received relatively large budgets and that can be seen from the famous actors that 'played' in them. This is one of those games and one of the better adventures I played. No timed stuff, no pixel hunting (there was one place where it was a bit hard to find the correct place (in the bathroom)). It has a lot of cartoony animations. The game is a combination of real actors (mainly Christopher Loyd) and animations. Obviously since the game is old the graphics has suffered a bit. It is no pixel art but there are of course two black bands on the side of the game and I think the resolution is 640x480. Still the animations itself look actualy great. I used a walkthrough 2 or 3 times (I don't have the patience anymore I used to have back in the days :-) ). It is like playing in a cartoon, so if you would like to play in that I still would recommend the game even if the graphics are a little dated.

This is LSL1 but with completely new graphics and engine. This is a remake done the right way. Back in the 90's LSL1 was one of the most popular games (if not the most popular). This remake is true to the original one as far as I can remember. For those new to LSL. The game itself has nice music and a narator. Much of the fun is trying different combinations of things or cursors on objects and listen to the narator's remarks. Most of the puzzle's are straight-forward (listen and read carefully) but I still needed a walkthrough for some puzzle's. Fair to say, the game is not extremely long and has a limited number of places to visit but everything is very well done. I personally liked the cartoony graphics a lot, very nice graphics style. Five stars from me for one of the better remakes.

This is a story driven FPS. Freedom is pretty much the same as most FPS'es where you have limited freedom (basically running through a corridor). You have some more if you are in the underground cities. The game still looks gorgeous (time of writing 13 Sept 2017), in the cities people react very naturally when you approach or stand staring at them for a while which make it feel very realistic. So is this the FPS you want to play, well .... Unfortunately the game designers thought it needed timed levels, (yikes!). The game mechanic for that is gas masks which are in very limited supply and run out after a while. After you run out you have to reload the last checkpoint. And that is the other problem you can not just save anywhere. The gas masks and checkpoint can lead to saves where you already didn't have enough gas masks to finish the level and as a result have to start it completely from the beginning. Gas masks and bullets are hard to come by (I played on 'easy'). For me the timed levels and checkpoint system makes the game stressful instead of fun. Personally I play games to relax not to get stressed. Good: - Story driven - Amazing looking gameworld (textures, animations, how people react) - Cities in between your 'runs' where you can look around, buy stuff etc. Ugly: - Timed levels in the form of gas masks (minus one star) - Checkpoint system (minus one star)

Great remaster of the interactive cartoon Full Throttle. Full Throttle is a game in the style of 'Day of the Tentacle'. It has nice cartoonish graphics and an original story. Basically you are the biker Ben who gets caught up in a complot around a motor cycle company. The game is point and click but in the original there was one, I found rather annoying, action sequence (I assume it is also in this version but I am not there yet). The graphics are nice cartoonish and in this remastered version, of course, in a higher resolution. 3D cell shaded objects are renderered on top of the backgrounds. I think the 3D objects looks absolutely great in this version. I played through 33% through this version this evening (I played the old version several times in my life so I sort of still remembered most solutions somewhat). The puzzles are not extremely difficult but I wouldn't call them easy either if you play it for the first time. It has great music especially in the part with the welder (which now also plays when you are in the main menu). Double fine did another great job on this game.

For those who don't know Planescape Torment. This is a story Heavy (with a capital H) isometric RPG. The story is superb, the best of any RPG I know, it really excells in banter between your party members and the colorful characters populating the worlds. Besides the story it has all the standard RPG stuff like leveling up, choosing your skills etc. The original version unfortunately didn't age very well and though you can play it I wouldn't really recommend it. I played the original for some time after many years and it did hurt to see the state it was in (cursor flashing all the time, the black borders etc.). The enhanced edition uses mostly the same graphics. The enhancements are however that it now works great on modern systems. Because most of these Black Isle and or Bioware games use a large map you can (as is the case with for instance Baldur's Gate II) just show more of it on a large screen. And that is how this enhanced edition works. In addition to that the interface itself was created in a higher resolution as well as all the rendered text. Obviously it would have been nice if all the graphics would have been re-rendered in a higher resolution but I don't think that would have been realistic (from a business point of view). I only played the first part, in the mortuary, so far, but I didn't encounter any problems. Gameplay is exactly the same as the original though controls are slightly different in the enhanced mode. There is no radial menu but you can use a key and/or the HUD to achieve the same effect. (I am not sure which one was better, right clicking on an enemy and go through the radial menu (several clicks) or press a button or the HUD to do the same). I really recommend this over the almost unplayable original. It is good to see this masterpiece brought back to life again after so many years. If you like Adventure RPG's (i.e. RPG's with story) or just Planescape Torment then this is really the version you want to buy.

Played this a few years back and really liked it. This is a good old point and click in 3D and it really feels a bit like being in the movie. They created very nice models of Marty and Doc. The puzzle were mostly doable if I remember correctly with a few hard ones. The graphics are good but of course it is not a high budget game. The story is great. This is the best thing in the 'Back to the Future' 'universe' besides the three movies (well it is also the only thing besides the movies I guess :-) ). Still thinking of replaying it some day.

I played GK anniversary edition over the coarse of a view days. I really am impressed with how this remake turned out to be. Technique is; Realistically rendered backgrounds with 3D elements for animated parts. GK, old and new, has one of the best stories I have ever seen in any adventure game. The characters are completely fleshed out and you really start to care for them. This remake has absolutely gorgeous backgrounds and brings GK to this century. GK is tough though and I don't mean GK itself. I always found, and even after playing it a few times in the past, that the puzzles are far from easy. However don't get me wrong this is not an adventure where you have to combine all the items in your inventory with all the other items, combinations are sensible. Still I often found myself wondering what should be the next thing I should do or, because I already played the game a few times (long ago), I knew I had to do something but the way I tried to accomplish it was just not the way the gamemakers had in mind. Still this is one of the best adventures out there and with the updated graphics and no bugs to speak off I wholeheartedly recommend this game above the old GK (which had some gamebreaking bugs for instance when exhausting all conversation options it would crash somewhere in the middle). I didn't encounter any problems with this new game except for some minor graphical glitches being that animations seem to return to there 'rest' position before removed from the screen and Gabriel doing some real neat trick with his head a few times :-)

Back are the days of great games like Baldurs Gate and Planescape Torment. True this game doesn't compare to them just like PST doesn't compare to BG. This game stands on its own feet and sets a new standard other adventure RPG's will be measured against. Note that you can play the game in different ways. I chose to play it as 'Classical' so this review is for that style. The game has gorgeous graphics just slightly going to the side of cartoonish (i.e. specularity isn't used too much and colors are bright). This allows for some (Larian) humor in the game which otherwise would feel out of place (like for instance the sheep animation :-) ). Important in games are the number of things you can do so the world feels real and in DOS there is plenty to do. * Detective work * Crafting ** You try to combine items you think make sense ** Apply recipes you find during your travels * Fighting * Level up with a lot of choice how you would like to do that * Lots of things to discover so keep your eyes peeled This game did the impossible for an adventure with lots of text (think NWN, PST, BG amounts of text) and that is to have everything and I mean everything voice acted. There are lots and lots of items in game everything with its own great looking icon. The TBS fights are not too tough and not too easy. Equipment needs to be maintained but in a way that makes it easy. You can just right click repair and the character that is best at repairing will do it for you. This saves you from the tedious dragging around equipment. Interesting characters to meet, fabulous treasures to be found and insidious foes to be fought. This is one of the best adventure RPG's I played in a long time. 6 out of 5 stars from me.
