VirtuaVerse

VirtuaVerse - Beautifully flawed PNC

Link to review: https://backloggd.com/u/RedBackLoggd/review/1452676/ Note - as I did not beat the game, this write-up should be taken more as a set of observations than a genuine review Tl;dr - The story is boring, puzzles frustrating, and music too loud. For all the visuals and nightlife ambience, VirtuaVerse falters too much in the other, more important departments.

LOOM™

Loom Review

Link to review: https://backloggd.com/u/RedBackLoggd/review/574498/ Tl;dr - Loom is one of those older titles that truly deserves a full-fledged remake. Taking its assets and converting them into a 3D setting with exploration, sidequests, and a story containing a concise beginning, middle, and end would go a long way towards doing justice to such a fascinating IP. As it stands, the base game might be worth a go-around if anything discussed above is appealing, but most gamers are probably better off viewing a playthrough online (specifically one that has more music!).

Dex

Dex: Enhanced Edition Review

Link to review: https://backloggd.com/u/RedBackLoggd/review/355234/ Tl;dr - Overall, Dex is a worthy entry in the cyberpunk field. Yes, I had a number of issues with it, technically, narratively, and gameplay-wise, but you’ll still get strong satisfaction from the typical corporate conspiracy yarn the writers spin. More importantly, wandering through Harbor Prime is such a rich delight, an excursion that rewards exploration with secret areas, stationary that gives historical/anecdotal details, and more. Dex also doesn’t outstay its welcome, providing 11-12 hours of content total which, at a $15.00 price range, is a steal.
