In the minimum requirements it says: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. System: W10 only, why? W7 are 64-bit! Why not include W7 as well? WTF is this obsession with W10? You think that I will upgrade OS for a pathetic Japanese port of a mediocre game? Give me ONE reason why this particular pathetic port requires W10, it's not even a DX12 game!!! The only reason to not be on W7 is if it was a DX12 game, like let's say for example Kojima's death stranding. I respect the decision to not include W7 when you make DX12 games and I accept it. But for this poor port there is no reason to not include W7. These particular Developers are idiots and a scum and of course Microsoft shills. I will never support this kind of mentality, quite the opposite I will boycott them with all my will.
First, the game crashed 3 times before I manage to run it with some peasant magic. I have the recommended requirements with all the drivers updated and the game still has performance issues. The difference in terms of FPS in all settings are minimum. Even on low the game is not smooth. Forget about the bugs, I can tolerate some bugs in a complex open world game but the performance issues are F...g unacceptable. 8 years of development and we can't run the game smooth on low settings in 1080p...It's obvious that the game needed more time but when you have impatient fanboys rushing you, this is what you get. My advice is to wait at least a month for those performance issues to be fixed.
As others reviewers mentioned the game is not ready yet and probably will never be. I write this review mostly for Gollop and not for the game. I don't care if he's the father of Xcoms, the past is the past, we live in the future. He's a total fraud and the most butthurt developer I've seen in my entire life, so much butthurt that he blocked both my 2 accounts on facebook cause he didn't like my opinions. Julian thinks that he's smarter than the rest of us, he found a cheap Bulgarian team who are professionals in Euro-junk and he thinks he's a God living up in the mountain of Olympus, but actually he's a poor idiot and a fraud and finally I'm happy that people realize this fact(better late than never). This game is about broken and fake promises, he started first by consolize the game (he promised that it will be a PC focus game in mind first with a proper UI and all that shit) then he had a brilliant idea to make the game Epic exclusive cause he's a greedy idiot and a liar, we all know what happened next. Bottom line, please don't buy this, don't give this man any of your precious money, he don't deserve it. I hope Firaxis make a proper underwater XCOM 3 and rape his game. Julian, if you reading this I wish your abomination flop in all eternity.
Bad writing, nearly every companion is so poorly written that the second best written companion is the one that doesn't speak, unfunny humor, poor itemization, everyone is ugly -- especially the females who range from horrifying to space monster ugly, poor stealth gameplay. Most talents are worthless and due to this the phobia system is complete garbage, writer self-inserts, writer self-inserts that you aren't allowed to hurt the feelings of because that's good RPG design, nonexistent story, lack of motivation for player character to care whatsoever. Don't buy this ugly abomination of a game. With 29.99 you can buy so many other good games here.
Devs have said that there is a bug in unity and they are trying to fix it. Probably it will be ok after the first patch. So wait for that patch to play it on W7. And for the toxic W10 mob who are saying W7 is an outdated OS, No it's not an outdated OS, it's a complete OS, we don't need security updates from MS. As for the game, it looks cool, like the first one. It's probably a 4 star.
Important note, NEVER take the user "groze" seriously, he's a pretentious hipster knowing nothing about adventure games. As for the game itself, it's the usual brain-dead experience with 0 gameplay and with ugly art style. Avoid it at all cost.
To the usual moron (SabbaRoy) who wrote, "eliminating verbs, puzzles and inventory to make room for branching story and a memorably diverse cast". (the same copy/paste review for all of these kind of "adventures") It's absolutely NOT necessary to eliminate puzzles and the overall gameplay with the excuse for better story and diverse characters. Guess what? You can have it both Einstein! Thimbleweed Park had it all, both good puzzles/story and diverse characters. It was a success and a very enjoyable adventure game. It seems that the new generation of developers are very lazy or untalented to make real full package adventures, they're happy just making mediocre story/walking simulators. (That's fine, but you'll never get money from me and many others) Those kind of "adventures" have nice pixel art but overall hollow and soulless gameplay without the good old magic. Avoid if you want gameplay in your games.
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who dislike this "game". When I'm saying my opinion they call me a troll... You know when a developer is a butthurt when he's crying on his page for some negative criticism. The only games I liked by them are Resonance and Primordia and those 2 are not developed by Wadjet Eye, LOL, they've just published them... And this tells a lot. At least those 2 had some good puzzles in them, they respected our intelligence, especially Resonance. In my opinion Dave Gilbert (fake Ron Gilbert as I use to call him) is doing the opposite thing from what the classics point n click adventures did. His development philosophy is the total opposite from the developers of the golden era of adventures. He can't realize that AGS engine has not been created to just make choose your own adventure visual novels, it has been created to make puzzles and gameplay first and all the rest comes next. You can't use AGS betting on nostalgia (he has a good pixel artist in his team indeed but that's not enough for an adventure to be good) and just make stories simulators...AGS is not a FUCKING story simulator engine and it's a disgrace and disrespectful using it like this. There are 3 ways to create adventures game: 1) if you want story focused adventures just create your own engine (if you have the balls) and make story adventures like Telltale did, 2) You just make a good oldshcool adventure with puzzles, items, characters etc. etc. 3) You make an rpg-ish adventure in the style of Quest for Glory or Hero-u. THERE IS NO OTHER WAY. My biggest objection here is about the blind Wadjet Eye fanbase, OK I understand that Dave Gilbert can't make proper adventures games and he likes to make story driven situations foremost, no one has a problem with that, we have democracy after all and he can do whatever he wants. But when the retarded fan base label him as the "Savior" of adventure games and other retarded labels then this is beyond me and they trying my patience.
