Worms Revolution Gold Edition

Cant worm out of this one.

The game itself is fun, its got everything you would expect from a 2.5D worms game maybe lacking in a few QoL especially in singleplayer. Its got silly voices, couch multiplayer, a fairly extensive singleplayer, a level editor and a fairly wide variety of Worms customization. Sure its missing a few old weapons but it still is worms. Now for my biggest complaint, its performance. its atrocious... god its horrible. be prepared for some wild random stuttering, bad frame pacing, doubling inputs and wild physics changes. all that happens in its gameplay and its main menu even on its lowest or highest settings with or without vsync. on a pc that astronomically shadows the game's system requirements. it is painful The worms fomula hasnt changed all that much but a few QoL changes are necessary and would be appreciated but arent present. my biggest gripe is in its controller support. it fully supports it but does not have ui for it in menu or in gameplay local multiplayer or otherwise, so we'll just guess? There are just way too much problem on the technical side that would hurt what would otherwise be a really fun worms game. The games last update seems to be around august 2013 and there have currently been no mods to address any of its issues.

Mirror's Edge™

A leap of Faith

Story sucks and it just kinda ends, Combat doesnt quite work for either melee or shooting and there are only so many ways you could run a level. But my my this game just sticks with you. DICE is obviously known for thier battlefield games and you'd expect that coming from franchise like that, an idea this unique (at the time) wont be even close to good but man did they put in the effort to make this idea work and it shows. The game was fun at launch and its still fun now. The game sounds, looks and plays great to this day. It breaks my heart that a concept this good could only be explored and refined in two games. potential that would be wasted on EA. Its great however to see innovation on games that this inspired, somehow make first-person view spatial awareness actually work even improving on FPS movement in general. That being said game runs great on modern hardware but not perfect. Have to mod in fixes but even then still getting small stutters

EVERSPACE™ - Encounters

Must have once youve tried the base game

If you are curious on when to get this dlc. you should get it when you buy the base game. It adds much needed depth and variation to the experience by adding more weapons, Items, minor objectives and actual NPCs you could interact with. Unfortunately doesnt improve upon much from whats in the base game apart what I stated above. No new areas, bossfights and enemies. Honestly, it should be bundled with the base game at this point.

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

Call me nostalgic...

But this series still has its old charm. Im sure I dont need to type up a review to convince you to get it. Its not some forgotten virtue like honesty thats worth at least twenty credits. Its Deus Ex, You get a modern masterpiece for less than a dollar during a sale. Dont pass up the chance to try a new blade. The game will need fixing however, just so it could keep up with modern hardware. Luckily the game has a huge dedicated fanbase constantly improving the game since its release, intensifying to the point that the mods are spilling into the schools and churches. Eventually it's not about the game itself but upgrades... versions... functionality... But if you're like me and want keep your vision augmented only to experience the game as close to vanilla as possible. I highly recommend the "Vanilla Matters" Mod. It pretty much has all the necessary modernizations and fixes. It also has mods support for it as well, tho i havent tried it myself as the game is really fun as hell as it is.

EVERSPACE™

In a vacuum, A stellar experience

Consider it a entry-level space sim. There are better space sims out there including its successor, all nebulously clouding over this game. But if youre orbiting around the idea of trying out a space sim without having to space out trying to learn rocket science. Give the game a try, You might just have a blast! That being said, the game itself is an action rougelite. You jump across levels leaving a trail of debris of what used to be space invaders. It requires exploration but doesnt necessarily reward it; It throws a bunch of enemies at you that are a challenge by themselves; the weapons you get are fairly generic only sepperated by stats; levels arent unique enough to be memorable; Near constant necessity for materials to keep yourself alive... In short the game is simple. So why the recommendation? The combat just shines. your ship handles amazing, even reacting differently from damage for each part. The AI fully utilizes the 3D environment making for interesting manuevers. If youre not carefull a fight with even a single grunt could be your end. If you can utilize the environment better than the AI, you'll live long... and prosper (lol). The combat just leaves me star-struck and over the moon. Again the game doesnt exactly contain everything in the universe. There are other games that are a bit more meteor (tho not a lot that run great on modern hardware without fixes and/or comes with controller or stick support). you'll likely gravitate to those titles. But if its an entry-level game or a quick run at the speed of delight, nothing quite eclipeses it!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director’s Cut

A gaming revolution *Fixes Necessary*

One of gaming's best ARPGs but it doesnt run well on modern hardware on top of it's issues and bugs. You can and should disable telemetry as it no longer serves a purpose other than to constantly eat performance. you can do this with the "DXHR Exe Patcher" mod. It prevents sending data to Eidos and DoubleFusion when installed correctly along side other much needed changes such as ui scalling for higher resolutions. For extra stability I used a mix of Special K and DXVK. With these modifications I've seen less stuttering and crashes on Win 10. Not perfect but almost like a new game. Fresh out of the package.

Saints Row 2

The best way to play the best saints row

Native to PC at least. So, still not perfect. Playable from start to finish with less crashes and issues than the steam version. You'll get to experience some of the silliest crimes and the silliest crime drama story with this game. Volition said they were working on a fix for the game but they no longer exist as a company unfortunately. So, we will need a bit of work to get the most of the game. As of right now, I've gotten the best performance out of this copy of the game (at least without it looking like play-doh with the games lowest settings) is with the combination of the mods "Gentlemen of the Row" and the "Juiced Patch". If you're bothered by the quality of the in-game radio, you can also get "High Quality Radio Mod" I recommend these mods specifically if you're aiming for a close-to-original experience.

Urban Trial Freestyle

Well worth a trial

Smaller in scope when compared to both Trials Evolution and Trials Fusion (Games of the Trials series by Ubisoft released at around the same time) but by no means a bad thing. The game focuses on tighter level design rather than the enormous ramps and flips offered by the Trials games. Customization and amount of Stages is on the low side. But, each stage offers different routes you can take for each level, that combined with the "spongy" feel of your bike's suspension creates interesting ways to approach each increasingly difficult levels. The game shines best in its Time Attacks and Stunt Modes levels allowing you to show mastery over each stage. Performance is consistently good (70 fps and above) especially compared to the trials series. It being on DRM free on GOG instead of being on Ubisoft's launcher is also an upside. It is also really fun being hated by an entire city. So, if any of that is your cup of tea, its well worth the price of basically-free-on-a-sale.
