This game is ambitious and complex. Your decisions during character creation and levelling will have a major impact on how effective your character will be in combat. There are plenty of races, classes and subclasses. The graphics and gameplay are enjoyable and challenging in places. The story is cool and I found the world building to be fun also although I don't usually go world building in games. Navigation around the huge map can be tedious and slow necessitating regular rests. The Pathfinder games require perseverance but the rewards are there if you build a decent character that suits your playstyle. The story is worth it and the game offers hours of fun and exploration with great combat.
I would give this a 5 except that years after it's release it still feels unfinished. As far as storytelling goes, this beats POE hands down. There is political intrigue, likeable characters that you can actually get to know, and enemies you can really love to hate. There are four paths you can take to the end, and although taking one paths excludes the others (which rules out some items), it seems fitting that this should be the case. I mostly played as either a two handed warrior or as a mage in my playthroughs and both offered great skills and were a lot of fun in terms of gameplay. Sword and shield looked king of interesting, but I'd rather deal damage than be a tank. The dual wielder or archer skill trees did not cut it for me. I'd love for there to be a follow up but I think the makers were not happy with the commercial success of the game so it looks very unlikely. That's a shame as a second game leading to a confrontation with Kyros would be epic.
