It has aged terribly bad, but this game is 5 years younger than the first Half-life, so no excuses with age only. The graphics are nothing to be sold nowadays, Im sure it was amazing in 2003, but gameplay and level design are terrible. You spend half the first levels of ""stealth"" in the game running and hitting people with chairs ¡]? If you want amazing gameplay with colorful comic aesthetic, and an amazing story, you should get "Outlaws" from Lucas Arts, which is also half a decade older than this one, and still amazing.

I bought it for less than a buck, so I dont regret it at all. It must have been a good gaming experience more than ten years ago for those who love it, but I dont feel this game has aged well gameplay wise, at all. But the thing that killed it for me is the atrocious historical context, which I thought it was going to be a plus, but it was complete madness. This game makes Indiana Jones movies and games look like rigorous documentaries. I have nothing against normal inaccuracies on games, but here we have ww2 started by a surprise invasion of France in the middle of a racing competition in the border ¡? that reached Paris with no french military resistance (they didnt surrendered, they didnt even put a fight), Forget about Polland, forget about Dunkirk, the Ardennes, forget any resemblance of a real ww2 context to the invasion of France. And from then on, the missions make no sense whatsoever, and you get into fist fights with nazis in the streets of Paris in plain sight of everyone to steal their clothes, and you climb buildings like spiderman. Worth the dollar I spend to try it, but wouldnt recomend it if not on a sale.

It´s not the best game in the history of videogames, but the amount of vitriol and the "not a game" bombardment is amazing. This game tells a story, and it works because it is trying something new that could be done by a book but wouldn´t be the same in a book, and it could be done in a film but it also wouldn´t be the same in a cinematographic format. Interactive storytelling is that, storytelling, not everygame needs to be Call of Duty 9, this game deserves to be experienced. I´m pretty sure having been a teenager in the 90´s, this game hits different to me. I cannot be in the shoes of a person born in the 21st century, to know how many things in this game could hit different. Maybe is easier to be angry at this game if you dont feel those feelings. Maybe youngsters from today will experience something similar in a couple of decades, when the 2010´s be a thing of the past and a source of nostalgia. Time will tell, but in the words of Grandpa Simpson... it happened to us, and it will happen to you!
First of all, I really recomend this game. For 5$ it´s a must-buy. The ONLY critic I can make of this game is that I wish it was longer :( Every level you get something new to learn, and you get better at playing the game, the final bosses of each level are very fun to defeat (you have to "solve the puzzle" of how to beat them). And just when you have really really learnt how to play the game well, the final credits are rolling down the screen. But dont get me wrong, I got something like 9 or 10 hours out of it, it´s not that short, but being as good as it was I wished to keep on playing more levels. This game needs a sequel, I hope it gets a sequel.

Really dont understand all the negative feedback. Maybe the fact I started playing games in the 90´s so I dont give a CRAP about playing games with Antialiasing X100 and 4k and all the NINJA PC stuff. I know I will be downvoted but I dont care. Im playing with a 5 core cpu, 8 gb Ram, Medium GFX. In a 24inches monitor. 1920x1080, all graphics stuff on HIGH, deactivated FXAA (I dont care). The game runs FINE. Not 60FPS fine, but FINE. Being playing for 2 hours. I started in a HOT planet, my suit protecting me from 50plus degrees celsius. After a while I decided exploring a bit, I jet-packed over a nerby hill. Temperature drops to 31 degrees. I think "nice! The ground was hot, here Im higher and it´s cooler!" Then I realize the sun is setting, and I start to see stars. Night time! That´s why it´s cooler!" I collect some Iron from rocks around and I repair my "Scanning device" and then I see a strange creature. I scan it and name the species and upload it. The thing is jumpy and nervous, and goes away. Later I learnt how to feed it, what they eat. I interact with it and feed it. A happy face icon shows up. Now sounds like happy screams, not fear screams, and now follows me everywhere. Now I call it "Timmy", and I guess its my pet. ALL THIS happened within 100 meters around my camp, I havent started even exploring the WHOLE planet. I dont understand 99% of my inventory, and I LOVE it, cause Im learning stuff. I have already repaired my ship, and learnt and alien word from a nearby alien structure I found (I know how to say "interloper"!) I guess people unhappy have a right to be unhappy, who knows. But Im loving this game. It doesnt have multiplayer!" IT WASNT SUPPOSED TO be a multiplayer experience. Maybe it will be someday, maybe not, but it{s not the point of the game! "It doesnt run perfect in my very expensive PC!" Well, maybe some of us used to play doom in "low definition" and a small window in a 486 in the 90s. And we care about gameplay, not 4k monitors.
