Stellaris

One of the best games I've ever played.

There's always something new to try, a new way to play. My only criticism is that I strongly dislike that anomalies are based on RNG results when surveying a system, and not when the whole galaxy itself is RNG generated.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

No mini-map. Hard pass.

The lack of any kind of in-game map makes navigating The World Of Darkness an excercise in frustration, and many areas are vitually unplayable because of it. This is a game that's only going to be enjoyable if you already know exactly where you need to go and what do to. As a Vampire: The Masquerade game, it's pretty good. As a computer game, it's very poorly designed.

Distant Worlds: Universe

User Interface is un-user-ble.

The User Interface in this game is, in a word, terrible. Squashed text, tiny icons, it just seems very incompetently designed. While it doesn't technically make the game unplayable, it effectively makes the game unplayable. There's no way to adjust the resolution, either.

SPORE™ Collection

Great game, shame about the RNG.

This is a game in 5 parts (cell, creature, tribe, and civilization), however parts 1-4 are just to get you to the main game, the Space Stage. My biggest gripe is that the planets and their spice resources are randomly generated when you first visit their star, which leads to A LOT of save scumming. Save scumming is never a good game design choice. Other than that, this game is still a lot of fun and you can spend hours just enjoying the game, playing around in the different creators (creature, building, vehicle, spaceship) and just chilling out.

Grim Dawn

The sequel to Titan Quest.

If you've played Titan Quest, you've played Grim Dawn. If you enjoyed Titan Quest, you'll LOVE Grim Dawn. If you've not played Titan Quest, this game offeres an interesting character levelling system where you choose 2 classes from a combination of 6 options (8 with the expansion) each with two parts to the class building mechanic. You can spend points on a bar with increases your health and magic points along with the three core stats allowing you to equip better gear, which also unlocks skill abilities the more points you put into the stats bar. Do you want to improve your abilities or increase your stats? Choose carefully, as with 2 classes each with their own bar and skill list, you'll not have enough points for everything you may want. That's not even going into the constellation system which has fewer points but can unlock more potent abilities. Replayability is excellent as there's always a new build to try out. Gameplay is pretty standard "Diablo" style: Defeat monsters, find random loot to help you beat stronger monsters, rinse and repeat. TL;DR? This game is very fun.

Shadow Warrior 2 Deluxe Upgrade

Both funny and fun.

Having never played a Shadow Warrior game, I didn't know what to expect, but I thought "hey, it's free" so I downloaded it and I'm glad I did. Different difficulty settings, experience and skill points to level up, bounty quests, customizable upgrades for weapons that can be swapped and changed, this game has a lot to offer. It's also very funny with cheeky one-liners, puns, and other sarcastic dialogue. It does have some bad language, so I this game isn't really suitable for children. Childish adults for sure, but not children.

Dungeons 3

The best thing since sliced DK2

Having played both Dungeon Keeper 2 and Dungeons 2, I have to say this game is a lot of fun. One of the things I enjoy most about this game is the Skirmish mode "Playground" which is a lot like the My Pet Dungeon of Dungeon Keeper 2, where you can take your time and relax while building your dungeon, spawning bad guys (They call themselves "Heroes"...) at-will when you choose to, instead of them wandering into your realm at random times while you're in the middle of doing something else. The ability to fill in spaces and create new dungeon walls is likewise a Devil-send that was sorely missing in Dungeon Keeper 2, whereas having a roster of Horde, Demons, and Undead all in your same team is an improvement over Dungeons 2. There's a research tree with three branches, each branch specialising in the type and skillset of the aforementioned three types of minion, so while it's possible to have (for example) an undead-only dungeon, you miss out on room abilities that are part of another tree, such as spells and traps which require a minion type of the appropriate tree to utilize. The meta-type humor and 4th-wall breaking may not be to everyone's liking, but then again this is a game where you play as the evil side, yet still manages to be bright and colourful. This game is a lot of fun. If you liked Dungeon Keeper 2, you'll love this game. It's also a definite improvement over Dungeons 2, as well.
