My favorite point and click adventure game brought to the modern age, this remaster looks beautiful! Clever puzzles, witty dialogue, zany action and hilarious gags leave no room for dull moments. Sam & Max Save the World is a wild ride from beginning to end! There are some reviewers angry about slight changes to Bosco (a character in the game), but I didn't even notice the difference at first. All these negative reviews are overreactions.
Telltale went out on a high note with this game (thanks to Skybound Entertainment stepping in to finish it). The Final Season is a great conclusion to the series. Clementine has come full circle and is now Alvin Jr's protector, just like Lee was her protector in Season One. What kind of person AJ becomes depends on Clem's actions (your decisions). Will she teach AJ to hold on to his humanity or show him that only the strong can survive in this cruel world? Unlike previous entries, this game provides somewhat difficult challenges to overcome. I found myself at the game over screen a few times while playing. There's even a combat system for fighting Walkers. I found myself engaged in the gameplay as well as the story. Pros: +Engaging story +Perfect conclusion to Clementine's character arc +Downright beautiful visuals +High quality animation +Variable dialogue and choices add to replayability +Gameplay that provides a decent challenge +Great music Cons: -Side characters aren't as fleshed out in The Final Season as they were in Season One & Two -Endings are slightly different variations of the same ending, unlike the amazing branching endings of Season Two
Season Two is an almost perfect sequel to Season One and it’s the best game in the series in my opinion. If the previous game is an emotional trail, this is an emotional gauntlet. Each character is unique with their own emotional baggage, I became emotionally attached to every main character introduced. They just felt so real to me. From the very beginning of the game it’s made clear that despite all the horrors Clementine has already faced, the worst is still ahead of her. The events of this game puts Clementine through hardships and challenges that no human being should be asked to go through. Season Two’s story will keep you on the edge of your seat. Earlier I said that Season Two is an ALMOST a perfect sequel, some changes have been made from Season One. Puzzles are simpler to the point that they can barley be called puzzles anymore, the focus is shifted even more towards the narrative (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing). This game is faster paced with less calm moments than Season One. It’s also slightly shorter. In conclusion, The Walking Dead: Season Two is an amazing narrative driven game. I especially liked each of the multiple endings, I won’t spoil them, but they’re all great and fitting conclusions to the story in their own way. Pros: +Perfect continuation of Season One’s story +Well written story and characters, best in the series +Unique visual style that looks smooth and has aged well +Alternate choices and dialogue makes repeat playthroughs more enjoyable +Facial animations express lots of emotion +Animation looks a lot better and more cinematic than the previous game +Great soundtrack on par with Season One’s soundtrack Cons: -Puzzles are too simple and the game is very easy -Slightly shorter than Season One
It’s a point and click adventure game with light puzzle elements, but I think calling it an interactive movie would be more accurate. Most of the game consists of choosing dialogue and making tough decisions. Choices don’t effect the overall narrative too much, but they add some flavor to the story. Season 1 has five episodes, each are about 2 hours long, meaning the whole game will take around 10 hours from start to finish. This game is a favourite of mine and I’ve gone back to replay it quite a few times to experience it’s amazing story. Out of all the Telltale Waking Dead titles, this is my second favourite next to Season 2 and will always be special for being the original game to start the whole series off. It will make you laugh, cry, and cry some more. I highly recommend playing it. Pros: +Well written story and characters. +Great voice performances. The actors really gave it their all. +Comic-inspired visual style looks great. +Worth a replay to see the alternate dialogues and events that different choices bring. +Facial animations are well done, convey a lot of emotion. +Amazing soundtrack composed by Jared Emerson-Johnson, some of these songs bring me to tears whenever I hear them. Cons: -Animation is rough in some places, but good overall. -Game’s age is starting to show. Character models look a little rough. Kenny has a rogue outline hovering near his shoulder and you can see where his sideburn texture ends and his face texture begins. -The effect your choices have on the narrative are over exaggerated
