Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic

Not fun

I like complex city builders a lot, though I find this theme disgusting. I don't know whether 3Division is a bunch of Putinist propagandists or simply ignorants, but I think cleanwashing totalitarian regimes by any means is not only rude, but irresponsible too.

Thief™ Gold

It has created a new genre

One of my all-time favorites. After so many "shoot everywhere and get the roasted chicken to heal" types of first-person games, Thief brought something new: it was a new experiment to play under the constraint of avoiding direct fight, furthermore thinking over each and every movement – and realizing every planned movement the right way. Thief offered us a fine graphic, great sounds, and a fantastic atmosphere. Though the almost empty rooms in the buildings are far from today's graphic demands, the whole game has a very persuasive atmosphere, which makes us feel that it has its own world. Pilfering food in Lord Bafford's kitchen, then making some mess, or hiding in a dark spot from the pursuing Hammerites, hoping for a chance to flee, or stealthing in abandoned places, trying to avoid the rattling undead are all fantastic experiences. I can only recommend this game.

Heroes of Might and Magic®

An addicitve classic one

I loved King's Bounty and loved HOMM 1 too. The various units (some with special abilities), the various terrains, the great number of artifacts make the game very diverse. It has great atmosphere too, I especially like the sound effects near sawmills, alchemist shops etc. What I really did not like is the development curve of castles and towns. On some levels (#1 and #8 in campaign game) you must build everything you can in your castle within a couple of weeks, else you'll be defeated very likely. (Towns are absolutely useless, their only benefit is the couple of coins they generate.) With a more balanced development curve, this game could have been even much better.
