Attractive and compelling, with solid gameplay elements (stealth, base improvement) War inevitably tries too hard to be Real, and as a result it is not often enough a Fun game, which destroys its replayability. It's hard not to have a feeling that the game's chief goal is to undercut every morsel of your progress and achievement. War is demoralizing and oppressive, but worse yet, it feels unfair. Sure, if you don't mind that, you're in for a different experience. But if you're looking for a sense of growth, continuity, and, eventually, empowerment in you game, look elsewhere.
