"Hold on to yer butt!"
Amazing, classic, action-packed Build-engine powered shooter with a unique charm and sense of humor. One of my all-time favorite PC games in ANY genre! The original game starts with aliens from outer space invading the small backwater town of Hickston to clone it's inhabitants and, in the process, steal Leonard and Bubba's prize pig, Bessie. Subsequent chapters revolve around Leonard and Bubba trying to find their way back home through various locales fighting through old enemies...and a few new ones too! Health kits have been replaced with bags of pork rinds, moon pies, 6-packs of beer, and cheap whiskey. Drinking a bit can steady your aim, but don't drink too much! You'll find it very hard to see, walk straight, and shoot enemies! Taking the occasional leak or screaming "Yeehaw!" restores a little bit of health, and did I mention weapons such as a ripsaw that can bounce circular saws off walls, and a crossbow that fires dynamite and/or chickens?? If you love classic shooters such as Doom, Quake, Rise of the Triad, Dark Forces, Blood, Shadow Warrior, and *especially* Duke Nukem 3D, you will absolutely love Redneck Rampage! I remember back about 10 years ago paying $35 for JUST THE FIRST GAME, and loving it to pieces, and the entire collection of all three games is here for only $5.99!! That's highway robbery! (And yes, it works great in Vista. I just spent the last hour or so playing around with all three games, and have no issues!) As stated before, if you're a classic 90's DOS shooter fan, and don't take the game too seriously, you'll love it. Buy it now!
