The Last Spell

Fun concept but gets repetitive quickly

The idea is fun: you defend a base with tactical use of heroes (round based). You can level up the heroes and build defensive structures. The problem: I had fun for some hours but now I'm not sure if I continue (maybe after a break). The use of the skills and the placement of heroes starts to feel repetitive- It is fun to build the base and craft the heroes but the battles take to long for my taste.

GWENT: Rogue Mage

Fun card game with major flaws

The game itself is a mix of regular Gwent and Slay-The-Spire rogue mechanics. You start with a premade deck and select the path to take on each waypoint. Some events give you a present other events are card-battles with rewards (select one of three cards to add to the deck). Each battle consists of one round of Gwent, where the player always starts and the enemy always has the last card. The concept is quite fun and has replayability. The problem: As of July the 7th the game feels unbalanced. This may change as only a few days passed since release. Like other people mentioned, even experienced players can lose to some random weird ass card that the opponent plays on the last turn (e.g. I had my whole board wiped because the opponend used a card that causes -2 to all creatures and then used his special that when a certain number creatures are hurt he can destroy all creatures. GG.). This is the kind of stuff that just feels frustrating instead of challenging.

GWENT: The Witcher Card Game

Not bad at all

I love the Arena (draft) mode, where you get a bunch of random cards to select from. I have a pretty high win rate under these circumstances. What sucks is the meta with custom decks. It feels like you can't be creative with deck building unless you don't care to lose most games. It feels pretty limiting. The mechanics itself are great.

Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Innovative and beautiful

I liked the game a lot. Thronebreaaker is an RPG, where the battles are card games and your army is the card deck. There are regular battles and puzzles. The story is surprisingly well written for a card game (even for other rpg games). You can make decisions that have an influence on the story and your card deck. My only complaint is the ending. It felt like it didn't get the same love as the previous scenes of the game (the whole playtime is about 50h).

Slay the Spire

More than a Heartstone clone

At first it looked very similar to Heartstone to me. I was obviously wrong as it plays quite differently. You don't summon creatures but attack yourself using damage cards. The game is fun and has some interesting mechanics (e.g. pay to remove a card from deck). The biggest negative point is that the balancing needs some work. There are cards that are insanely better than others and you can only get them by luck (e.g. Ritual Dagger gets stronger with every kill). There are also bosses that counter certain decks and you barely have a chance if you didn't encounter them before (e.g. one that gets stronger every time you play a certain type of cards). All in all frustrating, fun and addictive.

Frostpunk

Awesome strategy game to pass some time

Like many said before, the atmosphere is great. I felt pretty immersed in this arctic scenery. The game consists of two challenges. On one hand, you have to keep your people warm, healthy, well-fed and full of hope. On the other hand you have to expand and explore the area. It's pretty fun for some time but after a while it gets a bit repetitive. If you have the expectation that this game, like a good movie, is good but short entertainment you will like it.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Refreshingly different

It's an interesting mixture of action and strategy. You always have different options to overcome guards (kill, knock out, hide, distract,...). It's also a good game to relax as it isn't too intense while still beeing interesting. The asian scenery is well done. Only weak point imo is that the guards are sometimes to weak. This means that often times you can still kill the guards if they notice you.

Grim Dawn

ARPG with high variety and complexity

=> Pros: 1. A lot of possibilities to create a character (dual class, devotions) 2. A lot of content (story, classes, maps,...) 3. Cheap prices for game/addons => Cons: 1. Unnecessary complexity (too many damage types, resistances, ...). You need to be willing to invest time to study the builds and you need to sort out a lot of items. I like it more the Chess way: Easy to learn hard to master. 2. Annoying inventory system, which does not help to sort the millions of items and components (Diablo 2 style. 3. Depends on taste but the graphics are too dark for me all the time. (I like it more the Witcher3 way)
