Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Close to perfect

I am new to Kindom Come: Deliverance, but have logged nearly 200 hours (196 as of this writing) in less than a month as I have fallen in love with this game and it has taken over my play time. There is so much good about this game just figure if I don't mention it here it's fine (or better). I want to mention the things I think could be better for the players who might be looking for issues they may have as well as providing the creators with some feedback--they deserve good feedback on this one. First person is an issue for me--I find it clostrophobic and confining--and I wish this game allowed for third person as an option (like other games do, ie, No Man;s Sky), The save system is a clusterflack IMHO. Give me a regular save system and let me save the gme when I want to, please. My character should NOT have to spend money or brew potions to save a game, let alone get drunk. I don't care if other people drink, but I prefer not to even in Fiction. I play with K&M and still have a hard time with the battle system, but I think that's because I am old and slow nowadays, and I have a hard time with it. Especially when there is more than one enemy. Practice, and a lot of it, has helped but I still lose too often (and have to go back too far due to the Save Game Issue). The dogs are a bit too serious when they attack. A short sword seems to be too short to reach them, which is rediculous, and they grab your weapon hand and just don't let go. This needs some work (again IMHO). Otherwise, I believe this is the closest to perfect I have seen a video game since they got rid of Beta Testers. Congratulations to Warhorse. When I finish this one I'll be looking to score the sequel.

Timberborn

Wow, what a refreshing little game.

Timberborn (still in early access, but I didn't notice it much) is a little frustrating trying to figure out how thiings work (ie. how to get power to a building), but once you do, look out. I played this for 24 hours straight and I haven't done that with a game in a long time. It's a city builder with beavers as your people and it's a blast. My only issue is the font size is not scalable and the type is a little hard to read (I play on a 55in. TV from 12ft. away and like a little bigger font now that I'm getting older). That said, I can read it (I played all night) but it is a bit of a strain. Overall, Just buy it, you'll like it.

Transport Fever 2

Better than Railway Empire(s)

It's better than Railway Empire, One or Two, but the missions need some work. I mainly play free mode due to this, but I like to play missins sometimes, so I have a problem with not being able to just pick a mission rather than doing them in order (to unlock them all) because some of them are just stupid, boring, or a grind. For example, there is a missing where you build a whole city's worth of production etc, then your last job is to DELETE EVERYTHING you just built. Thanks, but no thanks. Yet I have to play it to move to the next one. Sad but true. While you might learn some things about the game, you can figure them out in free mode just as well. Finally, I have had, and played, this game for years and the last update was a major one to add controller support, but they didn't do anything to make the missions better or more interesting, or add more of them, or anything like that. And I think a controller would be a long way around doing stuff. I'll stay with K&M. More missions that were more fun to play would be a nice addition as long as I can just pick and play without the unlock.

Farmer's Dynasty

Hits on all cylinders

This game is a gas. Milk cows, plant and harvest, do odd jobs. Get married if you want to. The mechanics need a little work. I use a controller and there are times when I have to get out the mouse to help on the map. And it tells me to hit "B" to use the shovel, rake and planting flowers when the "A" key does the job. Small things really. All in all, a great relaxer that's pulled me alomg for 75 plus hours and shows no sign of stopping. Try it, you'll like it.

The Outer Worlds

Not Sure How it got all those awards...

It's very difficult to pick things up (and there are a TON of things to pick up), Autorun is run only. In Battle, on second you are fine, the next you are dead far too often. I finally set the difficulty to story to stop this. Watching talking heads and answering them, running around picking stuff up, and reading computer terminals seems to be about 70% of the game. All that said, I did mostly enjoy the hours I spent running through it. No clue on the DLC as I doubt I'll put more money into this game.

Aven Colony

Needs serious Work

A Lot of potential, but... It shows I am making water when I am losing water. Same for Food etc. When a spore infects the colony it's GAME OVER as you CAN NOT stop the spread with containment or hospitals....... And around we go! I'll try it again in a few months to see if there are improvements, but I won't hold my breath.

Acting Lessons

Hoping for more?

This story has one line. Your choices don't matter as far as the story ending. One play through is all you're gonna get before you know how it will end EVERY time no matter what choices you make. I decided to try to make the one person who "ends the story" my girlfriend and couldn't do it. Most likely because it would have ruined THEIR ending. Or caused them to do some actual coding. If you can get it for about 2 bucks, Maybe. Otherwise it's a waste of money. Pros: The girls ARE pretty Cons: most everything else including the halfhearted gifs that depict sex.

Surviving Mars

So much potential, but...

This game has a lot of potential and actually works well. I got the Linux Edition and enjoyed it until I realized there are OVER 60 Breakthrough Technologies, but you only get an opportunity to research and use 21 of them. That's not the problem though. The problem is that you get these Breakthrough Techs randomly? (or maybe based on the Sponsor you have and the Landing Spot you Pick?) but I keep getting garbage I don't want or need and that keeps me from getting what I DO want and need. "My" problem is that I want certain tech and can NEVER get it because I am FORCED to take USELESS tech just because of the way these Breakthroughs are offered up. However that is. If I could tell the researchers to stuff that tech into a hole somewhere because I think it's useless, and wait for the next tech to be discovered, the problem would be solved and the game would be not only playable, but one great game. Until they fix this issue, the game is not really playable once you know what you "Could" have instead of those wastes of time and tech, Landscaping Nanites and the many other Breakthrough techs that seem to simply waste your breakthrough tech slots. Fix this and the game gets 5 stars, but until then it is really unplayable due to frustration. Because of this I will keep checking for updates and hoping, but I won't be wasting anymore time trying to play a game that wants to dictate/force how I play.

Railway Empire

This game rocks.

I bought this game before it released and the first iteration I got was not good. Since then they have updated a few times and now things are starting to click, so if you are looking for a good train game, here it is. There are a few problems yet, but I do believe they are working on this game regularly and adding new material as well as fixing minor issues of which I still have a few--but they don't keep me from playing it all the time. Some Pros: Linux from the get go!!! Easy to lay track and set buildings (which is something you do a lot). Riding along on a train is a riot. There are a ton of different scenarios to play without buying DLC. The graphics are very good, but could be improved, yet this is what makes a ride along so much fun--it's pretty. Some Cons (aka things I hope they fix): (1) When laying track across water or through a mountain, bridges and tunnels allow only a two rail path to lay touching each other. This is a MAJOR headache in most cases and needs to be addressed. (2) When viewing a town I can not see what industries can be built unless the city needs a new industry. This is a Very Minor thing as you can usually find a city that needs one to look at. (3) When looking at a train in the research window, you don't see price. Knowing this would be very helpful. (4) When you build a 2nd station in a city the two stations rename themselves 1 and 2 and this gets a little confusing. I rename mine A and B. Another Very Minor thing. (5) And finally, the trains seem to lose their route if you change it while they are traveling. For example: I had a route from Atlanta to Washington that went through Charlotte. One train was nearly at Wash when I paused the game and added Charlotte as a stop to all trains on that route. The train that was almost at Wash. lost it's route and returned to Atlanta with all the goods before returning to Wash to deliver and including Charlotte in the route.

FlatOut 2

Flatout 3?

I have Flatout 1 and 2 and have ruined my controller playing them. Any chance there is a Flatout 3 for Linux in the works? I bought a new controller. (I think this sums up how I feel about this game.)
