Archimedean Dynasty

Mediocre

Nearly every level is the same and the lack of true 6-DOF means your manoeuvrability is limited to strafing runs. Most levels are the same except as the game progresses you end up turning into a glass cannon where some enemies can annihilate you in seconds leaving battles up to luck where you hope the enemies shoot at your allies instead of you. The final mission is a particular kick in the teeth where you have to clear out corridors of turrets which can out-range you, are hidden in alcoves where they can shoot through the edges of the wall but you can't do the same (and the alcoves also prevent the use of long-range weapons), and they'll destroy you in seconds. It becomes a massive slog where you pop out of cover, destroy 1-2 turrets, then hide and wait 5 minutes for your ship to heal. Get killed? Start all over again because there are no mid-mission saves.

Tinytopia

A fun little game, despite its flaws

The game is pretty easy as most of the typical city building levels have the same progression and once you have a reliable strategy it's pretty hard to lose. The physics-based levels are a bit more interesting but they can also be quite maddening when you watch your entire city crumble in a matter of seconds due to bad building placement or just plain bad luck. That said, it kept me entertained right to the end, enough for me to finish every level with all bonus objectives (it took just under 8 hours). Definitely more than the sum of its parts.

Amnesia: Rebirth

Evil Within Syndrome

Every objective in the game is a red herring. Every time you do something then the floor will magically open up and you'll fall into a new area or you'll warp away or something. It's impossible to gauge your progression because of this. I didn't like really Tasi as she was very one dimensional. There were no great revelations like with Daniel in the first Amnesia game. She's just a caring mother who wants a quiet traditional life, that's it. The scares are a step down from the older games too. Overall, it's a decent game but a step down from SOMA and The Dark Descent.

Not scary, not interesting

You just walk from scene to scene while badly mixed jump-scares scream at you. The game is not scary and the topics regarding identity or the nature of humanity were done 100x better by games like SOMA. From playing this and Layers of Fear I've decided that the developers have good technical ability but no artistic ability. Their games are completely soulless.
