I played it with Heretek dlc. I really liked the AdMech atmosphere, music and graphic design (locations, ui etc.). Unfortunately after first half of the game combat, and tomb exploration became repetitive and tedious. If you won't get Omnissiah Edition with it's Arc Scourge then there's not much use for melee builds for your magi. Heretek+ on the other hand you need to get only if you want the sountrack. IMO with Heretek this game is way better 'cause it added much needed diversity and fresh ideas, albeit in small quantity. If you are into XCOM you should be pleased with the game. If you hoped for something more engaging storywise like Shadowrun Trilogy, you will not be satiated. It is neither a tech-heresy, nor a worthy praise to Omnissiah, so buy it with discount :D
Kinda realistic viking story. Kudos to devs for an "english + norse names" language option! Game is really good. Amazing if you consider that it's not an AAA title. There are few bugs, but nothing game breaking in my playthrough. Some achievements (Ketill's quest, Gael princess e.g.) on GOG haven't unlocked even though i finished quests that unlock them.
It's less glitched and bugged than the Legends of Eisenwald. I have a beast of PC, and the Legends worked good on it, but in the Bastard windows and dialogues are hellishly slow. You don't lose your army and equipment between missions, which is a great improvement. Story is extremely linear, not engaging and dull. Legends of Eisenwald is great for it's fight mechanics and story, atmosphere etc, and Bastard lacks in story and don't have a lot of fights. SPOILERish thing below!!! At the end you have 3 options, and first one (perhaps the best one) is locked behind reputation (or renown?) level so high that you literally need to chose reputation beneficial dialogue options through the entire game. One no reputation, or one -1 reputation option and you are locked from this ending option for good.
Kinda like Disciples, but with more RPG and no turns. Great story in amazing late-medieval Germany setting spiced with magic - no fireballs though ;) Game is not leading you by the hand, you need to read carefully the dialogues. Looking for some places just by description in the dialogs can be really annoing.
Pros: - If you like the turn-based tactical games this title is for you. - Nice, more scientific vision of the zombie apocalypse. - In most cases the undead are only minor obstacle compared to the living or the shortages of food, fuel etc. Cons: - Few minor bugs (of the kind that annoys, not the game breaking one). - Few typos and other little irritants that remind you that its not the AAA game. - Not many fireworks at the endgame, but still better ending than in Mass Effect 3;) NICE GAME* *if you keep in mind that you are not paying for the AAA title;)
