

This KOF XIV is my next attempt of a KOF game after 98/98UM. I like it a lot, it is quite refreshing : the Max mode and its quick version to trigger during combos brings new ways to play : just hope it does not break the game into a boring "exchange of long combos" when mastered. After I am satisfied in my training there, I may try the XV...

Pros : Excellent game. It offers a gameplay that is more of Sekiro's than Dark Souls (focus on parry) : refreshing for me given the fact I was seeking for it. I also like the world built (western dark fantasy). A game for me at 100%. If more souls-like games would offer such a Sekiro oriented gameplay, I would be the happiest. Cons : I have not reached the end but some say this game is too short. I may edit this comment if I concur. Anyway, in the worst case scenario, too short would be my only complaint for this game.

I discovered the game after patched... It's a blast !! I love this game !! Graphics are in pixel art (sometimes difficult to read) but the art direction is awesome... The gothic atmosphere is beautiful and immersive... The gameplay can sometimes be fast paced and the commands propose rapid answers to fight back (movements and weapons) : especially the back slide that has become a move that I cannot do without anymore when I need to dodge. The charge attack is an awesome idea to give the player the possibility to refill Mana and to do high damage when needed without making the game too easy... Slain : Back to hell can be quite hard... Challenge is an important aspect for me and the level of difficulty is rising smartly as the player progresses. Players can also make small 15-minute game sessions or play longer... Very addictive... I recommend highly Slain : Back to hell to players who want to come back in Castlevania...
