X-Morph: Defense Complete Edition

Good, but could be better

I must say, this game is very entertaining and fun to play for some time, but there are flaws that hold me back at giving it five stars. Firstly - no online multiplayer. I know why they didn't put it (as usual, they didn't design the code for this from the start and now it's too late and it would take too much time to make it work), but it's still a huge flaw. There is a workaround, but it needs gamepad and it's still a splitscreen (though can be played online). Too restrictive. Secondly, I hate that mechanic of collecting enemy remains to increase my resources. It would be partly ok if the remains would stay (all of them), and I could collect them (all of them) after the battle. But it doesn't work like that. If I don't gather them immediately then some are lost, as there seems to be a limit of how much enemy remains can be at once during a battle. I would rather choose to collect them during a battle only if I needed to build a tower fast (or just concentrate on fighting and collect them in between waves), and not be forced to do so just to not lose potential resources. Thirdly, the survival mode is frustratingly designed to show only initial enemy routes, but they change during a wave. I get my preparations and in the middle of a fight everything changes, new routes are made, new enemies come in, and I don't even have time (or even resources for that matter) to react to it, so my base gets overrun from unforeseen directions. Maybe it wouldn't be such a big issue if it would happen only in multiplayer, but when playing solo it's just bad. Having said that, it's still a good, solid game, that is addictive for some time. Worth a try if you like the genre.
