I'll keep this short as other reviews will no doubt go into more detail - but one thing to make sure you realise is that although this game is, and has been in, development shouldn't put you off. I've seen it (EA on Steam) go from essentially a single map skirmish generator with a few characters and weapons to a fully fledged game with Campaigns, single player / multi player support with quests and loot and everything you'd expect. It's one dude as far as I'm aware - so yes it may be taking him a little while longer but his heart and soul is in this game and he absolutely listens to all feedback. For a reduced price purchase it should be a no brainer for anyone who likes a little fantasy RPG TBC a la D&D.
Jesus. I mean, graphics are nice and all but - did the dev's ever play any other 4x game? This isn't a finished game, and I suspect they'll be more DLC to complete it. Imagine if LOTR stopped half way through book 2, you'd just be like: WTF? That's this game - it could have been fantastic and then it's like they just stopped what they were doing and sold it. That's bad man - I know we all see it but I don't normally encounter this level of "F**k You Customer" unless its EA. And I don't use the words EA lightly. This is poor. Finish the game and I'll review it again. Otherwise, don't bother getting this unless it's under $10.
and lung, and then he lost a foot. But he holds my Standard high. Had this since early access on Steam - Dev's have put a hella'va lot of hours into this and scrolling through all the fanbase feedback. Con: I would love to see more character customisation a la JA2 (But I want everything to be more like JA2 so...). Can be tough to like if you expect everyone to live. Pro's: Some will die - get over that quickly. Absolute gem of a game, strategy, turn based RPG squad combat. Orcs, Feudal houses and the undead and you're stuck in the middle as a gang of mercenaries taking contracts. Start off with a few farm hands or a deserter or two (They at least know how to hold a sword) and by the time your name is heralded throughout the land you'll have knights and kings begging to be in your company. If you like any sort of squad based, level up your team combat action then this is a winner. Lovely little game, well worth the money and they even have tutorial videos etc. Just also been patched recently and is one of the more stable games I own. I've got Shadowrun, I loved Xcom (New and Old, I've now got Xenonauts) and loved JA2 - this scratches that itch although doesn't completely remove it.
Easily one of the best games of all time. Easily. Bioshock? Dead Space? They get their ideas from this game! (Bioshock ...... "Shock") while Dead Space 1 near enough rips off an entire level at one point (I nearly stopped playing DS because I'd played that lvl before) *******Spoilers Below*********** System Shock 2 has it all: Intense FPS Combat, RPG elements, puzzles, research (Monkey Brains), awesome lvls, amazing sounds... it's all there. I will forever, to the end of my days, remember skull-less monkeys and the sound of Cyborg Midwives protecting their strange creations.... Oh and the invisible Ninja things.... Oh just play it. Now. With all the lights ON, and your favorite Teddy near-by. It's THAT good.
HOWEVER; Play JA2, or else you won't be allowed into heaven for your sins. JA2 is Epic, an absolute masterpiece of gaming. The graphics and such are far far FAR better than JA, yet it keeps every single good part. So go buy JA2 instead of this, I swear you'll regret it forever if you don't.
