For those of you who expect F:T to be the early Fallout 3, this is not it. Tactics has some RPG elements outside of character creation and development, but they're so rare that they're pretty much negligible. Is that bad? Well, yes and no. Yes, because, in the end, this is a Fallout game and it would be good to have some more of them. No, because the game can hold it's own being just what it is - a tactical combat game. F:T is really enjoyable, even for casual tactical gamers who don't usually play these games. Mind you, the game has it's cons - the biggest flaw I can think of is a very sharp difficulty increase later in the game which comes from one mission to another. Suddenly, you may find that your whole team is pretty much useless against an overwhelming enemy. This made it impossible for me to finish the game. Still, if you're determined enough, F:T is a great addition to the franchise which gives you a never before (nor after) seen point of view - that of the Brotherhood of Steel, with it's own interests and problems.
Planescape Torment may be more than 10 years old, but it doesn't change the fact that it's still the best cRPG ever created. None of the great games of this decade were able to top Torment in anything else than mechanics. Planescape tells a great, deep, gripping story which will often have you ask yourself very philosophical questions and will have you thinking about the plot ceaselessly. The protagonist is one of the most interesting characters in game history, and so are his counteparts. The very strong focus on story over combat makes this possibly the only game ever made worthy of the RPG label, and almost certainly the most 'RPG' game set in the D&D mechanic. The richness of the setting is a work of a genius. The dialogues are compelling and leave many different options to the player. The music is beautiful, nostalgic or blood-pumping, depending on the situation. The NPC's have some of the most interesting stories to tell I ever encountered in an cRPG. No amount of praise I can give the game gives justice to how good it actually is. The only way you can experience this is to play it yourself, and immerse in the world of Planescape. The graphics are still quite good, especially if you manage to increase the resolution (there's a trick for that, look it up on the net), and the voice actors did an INCREDIBLE job. Seriously, games like Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, or even newer titles like Dragon Age have NOTHING on this game. This is possibly the best buy you can make on GOG.com at the moment. DO IT.
