Blood: One Unit Whole Blood

Great ambience, insanely difficult

My experience of this game is pretty limited, but generally speaking I didn't enjoy it much. It's got a great idea behind it, the violence and ambience are very enjoyable, but passing as much as the first stage of the game is quite a feat. I wouldn't recommend this to people who have had only some experience of FPS games, and even if that's your favourite genre, you will still find this game challenging. If that's what you like, go ahead. I decided not to bother after a while.

Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within

Disappointing and... odd at times

I feel disappointed with this game for several reasons. First off, some of the puzzles aren't very logical and it takes a lot of time to figure them out. Secondly, some stages as a whole are so very complex that you keep asking yourself if you're even doing things right, and then it becomes obvious you had to miss some minute detail - but what that was is very unclear. Thirdly, the acting in this game is all over place - from some quite good performances, to some which are so bad you just feel bad watching them. Finally, and I have to address this, the game hasn't aged very well in terms of dialogue and the general feel. I do not wish to offend anyone here, but for me it was obvious the game had some serious homosexual undertones - I do not know if that was planned, or if it didn't sound that way in the mid-90's. The whole serious plot of the game just falls apart once you cannot defend yourself from the feeling that you're watching a cheap gay soft-porn flick. Two or three scenes are especially like that, making the whole thing... well, unsettling, I would say. To sum up, the game hasn't aged well. If you're thinking about buying this and some other adventure title, if I were you I'd decide on the other one first. This is simply not the best the genre has to offer.

Total Annihilation: Commander Pack

Why haven't you bought it yet?

I don't know about the 'Battle Tactics' expansion, but TA itself is one of the best pre-2000 RTS games, and is still a very strong title despite its age. EVERY self-respecting RTS fan should play this. One of my all-time favourites. Despite owning the basic game, I will buy this pack whenever the opportunity presents itself.
